Small Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869288 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. With Largo … III. 48 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #431451. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869288). Instrumentation: 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets in Bb, 2 horns in F, 2 bassoons Program note.Nancy Braithwaite, for whom I have written many works - all of them featuring her instrument the clarinet - told me that she was a member of a wind group based on Richard Strauss’ Serenade in E-flat Major, opus 7, for thirteen instruments: two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets, four horns, two bassoons, and contrabassoon. I said to Nancy, I should write a piece for that group. She said that was a good idea. I soon discovered that the name of the group is La Rondine, or the swallow. I then remembered that Puccini wrote an opera called La Rondine. So I told Nancy that I might do a little research on the Puccini opera and come up with a piece inspired by thematic snippets I found in the opera. Well, I did not find Puccini’s music that conducive to a transformation into TOL music. Around the same time, I stumbled upon a 27-CD box set of nine operas by the Venetian composer Antonio Vivaldi. As I was listening to these obscure operas by Vivaldi it dawned on me that I was very attracted to what I was hearing, and it was seeping into my musical thinking in the most natural way imaginable. Very quickly I was hearing things for this work I planned to write for Nancy’s group, and the music just moved along quite smoothly from one movement into another. At the same time I began reading about Vivaldi and his life as a priest, violinist, teacher, impresario, and composer in the city of Venice and other cities nearby. What a fascinating life he led!!! I also discovered in my reading that the city of Venice at that time was called La Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia. So, instead of a serenade for ten instruments, my work for two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets, two horns and two bassoons, is called La Serenissima as an homage to Antonio Vivaldi and that glorious city of Venice. La Serenissima is in six movements. I. Introduction, allegro … II. Largo … III. Presto … IV. Allegretto … V. Adagio … VI. Molto Allegro … TRIO Enjoy!!!! Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912070 By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Broadway,Musical/Show,Pop. 11 pages. RayThompsonMusic #518001. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.912070). Arranged standard wind quintet Your Mother Should Know is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1967 EP and LP Magical Mystery Tour. It was written by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon–McCartney.Titled after a line in the 1961 film A Taste of Honey, its lyrical premise centres on the history of hit songs across generations. McCartney said he wrote it as a plea for generational understanding and respect for a mother's life experience. In the Magical Mystery Tour television film, the song serves as a big production number in the style of a 1930s Hollywood musical. Some commentators view the sequence as cultural satire, as the Beatles are seen dancing and dressed in white evening tails. Your Mother Should Know is in the music hall style, further to McCartney's earlier composition When I'm Sixty-Four.He first offered it as the Beatles' contribution to the Our World satellite broadcast in June 1967, but the band favoured John Lennon's All You Need Is Love for its social significance. The initial sessions for the song took place at Chappell Recording Studios in London towards the end of August. The group were visited there by their manager, Brian Epstein, a visit that marked the last time he joined them in the studio before his death on 27 August.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.554033 By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Contemporary,Pop. 16 pages. RayThompsonMusic #6517961. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.554033). The Fool on the Hill is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1967 EP and album Magical Mystery Tour. It was written and sung by Paul McCartney and credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership. The lyrics describe the titular fool, a solitary figure who is not understood by others, but is actually wise.McCartney said the idea for the song was inspired by the Dutch design collective the Fool, who derived their name from the tarot card of the same name, and possibly by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The song's segment in the Magical Mystery Tour television film was shot separately from the rest of the film and without the other Beatles' knowledge. Accompanied by a professional cameraman, McCartney filmed the scene near Nice in France. In 1968, Sérgio Mendes & Brasil '66 recorded a cover version of the song that reached the top ten in the US. By the late 1970s, The Fool on the Hill was one of McCartney's most widely recorded ballads. A solo demo and an outtake of the song were included on the Beatles' 1996 compilation album Anthology 2.   Arranged for standard wind quintet, the melody is taken first by the oboe, and then by the flute. Interesting parts for horn, clarinet and bassoon. The mp3 extract is of verse 2

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.833865 By Chicago. By Robert Lamm. Arranged by Michael Compton. Pop,Rock. 16 pages. Kreechur Kumfort Publishing #6448459. Published by Kreechur Kumfort Publishing (A0.833865). Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? is a song that was included on Chicago's 1969 debut album Chicago Transit Authority and released as a single in 1970. According to composer Robert Lamm, it was the first song recorded for the album. The song was not released as a single until two tracks from the band's second album, Make Me Smile and 25 or 6 to 4, had become hits. It reached No. 7 in the U.S. and No. 2 in Canada. Said Lamm: [It's] not a complicated song, but it’s certainly a quirky song. But that was my intent. I wanted to write something that wasn’t ordinary, that wasn’t blues-based, that didn’t have ice cream changes, and would allow the horns to shine and give Lee Loughnane a solo. This arrangement is for saxophone quintet (soprano, alto, two tenors, and baritone) and the melody is passed around the ensemble a bit. The arrangement is suitable for intermediate level players.
