Lyric Pieces (Norwegian: Lyriske stykker) is a collection of 66 short pieces for solo piano written by Edvard Grieg. 

They were published in 10 volumes, from 1867 (Op. 12) to 1901 (Op. 71).

The collection includes several of his best known pieces, such as 

Wedding Day at Troldhaugen (Bryllupsdag på Troldhaugen), 
To Spring (Til våren), 
March of the Trolls (Trolltog), and 
Butterfly (Sommerfugl).

This is my arrangement of Op.54 No.2 Gangar  (Norwegischer Bauernmarsch  -  Norwegian rustic march)



Tempo marking is Allegretto marcato in 6/8
My arrangement is NOT tutti throughout.

The melody is shared out amongst flute oboe and clarinet.

Grieg later arranged four of the pieces from Op.54 as his Lyric Suite for orchestra.

Grieg slightly altered the order of the numbers in the orchestral suite by swapping No. 4 Notturno with No. 3 March of the Dwarfs. The final order of this is:

1. Shepherd Boy
2. Norwegian March
3. Notturno (originally No. 4)
4. March of the Dwarfs (originally No. 3).

Beethoven Country Dances Beethoven wrote 12 Country Dances WoO14 for orchestra .(composed 1791 - 1802.) They are all quite short: some have trios.

Douze Contredanses (Fr.) or Zwölf Contretänzes (Ge.)

They are probably better known as  a set of 3 piano pieces called  Contre-Tanzes  which are noted frei bearbeitet von Isidor Wilhelm Seiss (freely adapted by  Isidor Wilhelm Seiss) Arrangements of those pieces are available on this site.

I have arranged the first six dances by Beethoven for wind quintet. I have used Beethoven’s natural horn parts as a guide for my horn part, so each dance has a horn part for a different natural horn. I also include a horn part in F

Prominent Afro-Haitian pianist and composer Justin Elie’s Tango-Habanera Tropical Dance No. 2 captures the appealing elegance of Caribbean music. Elie studied at the Paris Conservatory and settled in the United States in 1921. His adaptations of Haitian melodies into miniatures led him to performances at Carnegie Hall and international concert venues in addition to composing music for silent films, and in 1931 his own New York radio show, “The Lure of the Tropics.� Arranged for a traditional woodwind quintet of flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon, with alternate parts clarinet in B-flat substitute for oboe, alto saxophone in E-flat substitute for horn, and bass clarinet in B-flat substitute for bassoon, the alluring work entices audiences and performers. 2 Woodwind Quintets - Intermediate - Digital Download. This selection, Hodie Christus Natus Est' (Today Christ is Born), was originally a vocal motet written by Jan P. Sweelinck and has been arranged for two Woodwind Quintets, each consisting of 1 Flute, 1 Clarinet in Bb, 1 Oboe, 1 French Horn and 1 Bassoon, by Regis Bookshar. I envision this arrangement to be performed antiphonally. It is perfect for Christmas concerts or church services but could also be performed for other festive occasions as well and is suitable for high school and college students. Included is a score and a complete set of parts (44 pages). Also available are other settings of this motet for a variety of instrumental ensembles as well as numerous other arrangements in a variety of styles.
