Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1127691 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Romantic Period,Spiritual. 16 pages. RayThompsonMusic #728293. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1127691). 2nd mvt Lento - Arranged wind quintet The String Quartet in F major, Op. 96, nicknamed the American Quartet, is the 12th string quartet composed by Antonín Dvořák. It was written in 1893, during Dvořák's time in the United States of America. The quartet is one of the most popular in the chamber music repertoire. For the London premiere of his New World symphony, Dvořák wrote: As to my opinion I think that the influence of this country (it means the folk songs)) is to be seen, and that this and all other works (written in America) differ very much from my other works as well as in colour as in character,. A characteristic, unifying element throughout the quartet is the use of the pentatonic scale. This scale gives the whole quartet its open, simple character, a character that is frequently identified with American folk music. However, the pentatonic scale is common in many ethnic musics worldwide, and Dvořák had composed pentatonic music, being familiar with such Slavonic folk music examples, before coming to America Specific American influences have been doubted: In fact the only American thing about the work is that it was written there, writes Paul Griffiths.[21] The specific American qualities of the so-called American Quartet are not easily identifiable, writes Lucy Miller, ...Better to look upon the subtitle as simply one assigned because of its composition during Dvořák's American tour. I have NOT simply copied the string parts across to the winds, as other have done. Rather, I have arranged the piece as though it had been written for wind quintet, so have given the horn repeated notes , in the same way as the slow movement of the slow movement Dvorak's wind serenade., and used the horn to sustain. Some of the arpeggio figures remain, but in a simplified form.and are shared between clarinet and bassoon.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553198 Composed by Claude Debussy. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Holiday,Standards,Wedding. 26 pages. RayThompsonMusic #7959. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553198). 4 Piano Preludes from Bk.1:  II. Voiles, VI. Des pas sur la neige,  VIII.La fille aux cheveux de lin, XII. Minstrels: arr.wind quintet.  Voiles is a composition by Claude Debussy for solo piano from 1909. It is the second piece in a set of twelve préludes published in 1910. The title of the piece may be translated to English as either veils or sails; both meanings can be connected to the musical structure. Except for some mild, localized chromaticism and a short pentatonic passage, the entire piece uses the whole tone scale. I have taken some liberties with the arpeggios in the 2nd half of the piece and also ignored the grace notes. For something different, try this piece. (Treat the tempo as 4/8 rather than 2/4 i.e. count it in 4. Well worth the challenge! VI. Des pas sur la neige (Footprints in the snow): very atmospheric wintry feel! VIII.La fille aux cheveux de lin (The Girl with the flaxen hair)One of Debussy’s most popular and well known pieces: ideal for that quiet wedding moment.  XII. Minstrels: almost a ragtime feel.

Baroque,Christmas,Instructional,Sacred,Standards. 33 pages. Regis Bookshar #6117949. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813152). Woodwind Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This selection, For Unto Us a Child is Born, from George Frideric Handel's world-famous oratorio, Messiah, would be an excellent addition to any music library. Originally written for a four-part chorus accompanied by a small orchestra, this selection has been arranged for a Woodwind Quintet, consisting of 1 Flute, 1 Oboe, 1 Clarinet, 1 French Horn and 1 Bassoon, by Regis Bookshar, without losing any of the vitality of the original version. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement will entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come. It is perfect for Christmas concerts and church services, is suitable for high school, college and professional performers and is one of my all-time favorite arrangements. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (33 pages). Handel's original version is written in the key of Concert G, as is this version, but also available, if needed, is a version in the key of Concert F, to make it a little easier for some younger performers. This arrangement will prove to be a challenge for many players, especially during long passages played using one breath. Other versions of this selection, in both the keys of Concert F and the original key of Concert G, are available for a variety of instrumental ensembles. If you are considering having an organist or other keyboard player perform with this selection, I would suggest that you purchase this version in Concert G rather than the one in Concert F. Also available are numerous other arrangements in a variety of styles. I would encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. You may find something else which might interest you as well. I'm certain that this arrangement will please students and audiences alike.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1468452 Composed by Frederic Chopin. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Classical,Romantic Period,Wedding. 10 pages. RayThompsonMusic #1046771. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1468452). Arranged wind quintet.Chopin wrote 21 nocturnes for solo piano between 1827 and 1846. They are generally considered among the finest short solo works for the instrument and hold an important place in contemporary concert repertoire. Although Chopin did not invent the nocturne, he popularized and expanded on it, building on the form developed by Irish composer John FieldThis is probably Chopin's best loved Nocturne, if not his best known piece.Unlike other arrangements you may find, my arrangement shares the melody amongst flute, clarinet and oboe. The horn provides harmony throughout, has one bar of solo, and takes the bass line for a time. The bassoon provides a mainly sustained bass line, as an impression of the piano pedal, rather than isolated quavers.I have NOT  simply copied Chopins original quaver figures (in the original left hand piano) but have created an original piece as though it had been composed for wind instruments! The quintet do NOT play TUTTI all the time: this gives a more interesting and varying sound palette.ENJOY.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1271201 By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Pop,Standards,Wedding. 9 pages. RayThompsonMusic #863596. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1271201). Arranged standard wind quintetYesterday is a song by English rock band the Beatles written by Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon–McCartney) first released on the album Help! in the United Kingdom in August 1965.Yesterday, with the B-side Act Naturally, was released as a single in the United States in September 1965. While it topped the American chart in October the song also hit the British top 10 in a cover version by Matt Monro. The song also appeared on the UK EP Yesterday in March 1966 and the Beatles' US album Yesterday and Today released in June 1966.McCartney's vocal and acoustic guitar, together with a string quartet, essentially made for the first solo performance of the band. It remains popular today with more than 2,200 cover versions and is one of the most covered songs in the history of recorded music. My arrangement differs from others you may find.Rather than giving the tune to one player, I have given it in turn to oboe, horn, flute and tutti. The flute enters after the 1st verse. The accompaning parts are not simply block chords, but are varied and full of interest to each player. The chorus section is treat as a chorale, with all the players playing. This is the wind quintet version you need!
