Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553605 Composed by Franz Liszt. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Christmas,Romantic Period,Sacred. 16 pages. RayThompsonMusic #3222733. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553605). Weihnachtsbaum (English: Christmas Tree; French: Arbre de Noel) is a suite of 12 pieces written by Franz Liszt in 1873–76, with revisions in 1881. The suite exists in versions for solo piano and piano four-hands. Weihnachtsbaum does not demand great virtuosity, and it has been described as a distant relation of Schumann’s Kinderszenen and Debussy’s Children’s Corner. It occupies an unusual place in Liszt’s output, and it may be for these reasons that it has received relatively little attention from performers. Liszt dedicated Weihnachtsbaum to his first grandchild Daniela von Bülow (1860-1940; daughter of Cosima and Hans von Bülow). Daniela had accompanied her grandfather to Rome due to his frail condition. The first performance was on Christmas Day 1881 in Daniela’s Rome hotel room. This was the day on which her mother Cosima always celebrated her birthday, although she was actually born on Christmas Eve.This is no 4. Small Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.850770 Composed by John Bacchus Dykes. Arranged by Spike Maiden Müller. Christian,Patriotic,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and parts. 14 pages. Spike Maiden Mueller #6876423. Published by Spike Maiden Mueller (A0.850770). Eternal Father, Strong to Save is a hymn traditionally associated with seafarers, particularly in the maritime armed services. Written in 1860, its author William Whiting was inspired by the dangers of the sea described in Psalm 107. John B. Dykes, an Anglican clergyman, composed the tune Melita to accompany the text in 1861. This version is for standard woodwind quintet, and includes an optional bass clarinet part for ensembles with no bassoon. Lush romantic harmonies and the passing of the melody from player to player are its cornerstones.Search terms: Maiden, Müller, Mueller, Muller, Maiden Müller, Maiden Mueller, Maiden Muller.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1325401 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Christmas. 9 pages. RayThompsonMusic #913639. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1325401). Bring Us in Good Ale is a medieval English drinking song celebrating good drink and honoring Our Lady. For the medieval man, convivial drinking was a part of life, and drinks were enjoyed with nearly every meal. The English beverage of choice was ale. In Bring us in Good Ale the singers jocularly excuse themselves from mutton, eggs and pudding and instead stand firm in their call for their favorite drink.Ā As they list all the dishes they refuse, the singers indirectly give thanks for the good season that has led to the plenty they are enjoying.Gustav Holst arranged it for unaccompanied choir as one of his 4 carols Op.34.It is quite short.Arranged here for wind quintet.Bring us in good ale, and bring us in good ale;For our Blessed Lady's sake, bring us in good ale.Bring us in no brown bread, for that is made of bran,Nor bring us in no white bread, there therein is no game; But bring us in good ale.Bring us in no beef, for there is many bones,But bring us in good ale, for that goes down at once; And bring us in good ale.Bring us in no bacon, for that is passing fat,But bring us in good ale, and give us enough of that; And bring us in good ale.Bring us in no mutton, for that is often lean,Nor bring us in no tripes, for they be seldom clean.Bring us in no eggys, for there are many shells,But bring us in good ale, and give us nothing else.Bring us in no butter, for there are many hairs;Nor bring us in no pig's flesh, for that will make us bears.Bring us in no puddings, for therein is all God's good;Nor bring us in no venison, for that is not for our blood; But bring us in good ale.Bring us in no capon's flesh, for that is often dear;Nor bring us in no duck's flesh, for they slobber in the mere; But bring us in good ale. Small Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.837507 Composed by Brett L. Wery. Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 26 pages. Sonata Grendel Publishing #5997463. Published by Sonata Grendel Publishing (A0.837507). M45 is the Messier catalog number for an open star cluster better known as the Pleiades. Originally for chamber orchestra, Oot-kwa-tah is dedicated to SUNY Schenectady County Community College on the forty-fifth anniversary of the college’s establishment as part of the State University of New York. The college sits on land that was once part of the Mohawk nation of the Iroquois Confederacy. Oot-kwa-tah is inspired by the Iroquois legend of M45, the Pleiades star cluster. The Iroquois tell a story about seven children who met each day and danced for hours at a time instead of doing chores. An old man appeared to them one day as they danced. He shone magnificently like silver and was clad from head to toe in brilliant white feathers. The old man warned them to stop dancing lest something terrible happen to them. Ignoring the old man’s warning and growing more and more hungry and lightheaded the children began to rise into the air. If only they had listened to me, the old man thought. As the children’s parents gathered, one little boy heard his father’s voice below. The little boy looked down and saw his father. At that instant he fell back to earth. The other children continued to float higher and higher into the sky to become the Pleiades star cluster. The Iroquois call them Oot-kwa-tah and are reminded of these reckless children each time they see a falling star. Duration: 5:00

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1463474 By Philip Le Bas. By Philip Le Bas. Arranged by Philip Le Bas. Chamber,Classical. 21 pages. Philip Le Bas #1042196. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.1463474). A short, attractive fugue for wind quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon) by Philip Le Bas, inspired by and based on Hubert Parry's much-loved hymn Dear Lord and Father, whose melody is entitled Repton. The fugue's structure results from a fascinating online Fugue Writing course run by CityLit, London, which the composer attended in the first half of 2024. The course presents and explains the eighteenth-century ideas of a fully developed fugue, which culminated in J.S. Bach's extraordinary achievement, the Well Tempered Clavier, and which has been used in various forms by composers ever since. The fugal rules are here treated rather as guidelines in order to create a fugue more immediately appealing to 21st century listeners, but the piece attempts to maintain the general structure found in classic fugues. The initial subject is quirky and tuneful (in fact a bit of an ear-worm), but it immediately goes on to include counter-subjects, tonal answers, codettas, episodes, middle entries, inverted subjects, strettos, a pedal and a final entry, plus a relatively long coda in which Parry's original melody is celebrated exuberantly. These different sections and techniques are all labeled in the score to add an educational dimension to the composition. Those who know the composer's Repton Variations for wind sextet will recognise the opening and ending, at least in outline, but they will soon find the rest to be more technically developed, if rather less serious, from the very beginning! The piece lasts just under three minutes.

She was unique in many ways, but perhaps the most intriguing aspect of her personality was her insistence upon doing things not normally viewed as acceptable ways for a proper Victorian Lady to entertain herself. One of these activities was commissioning works for a seventy-two piece chamber orchestra which she then conducted in a public performance in London. The Lady Radnor Suite is one such work, and Lady Radnor and her chamber orchestra gave the first performance June 29, 1894 at St. James Hall. Parry patterned the work on the early classical orchestral suite of dance movements, and the six movements all demonstrate the influence of antiquity. Each traditional dance style is preserved with great care, while Parry's own particularly English harmonic language marks them as more contemporary. This movt. is arranged for wind quintet.I have also arrangements of another suite by Parry on this site: The English Suite
