This arrangement is in 5 parts for Flute 1, Flute 2, Alto, Bass and Contrabass Flutes. The piece is in the Style Brisé of the French Baroque.  The music is syncopated and the melodic  line ambiguous. With arranging this work for flute ensemble the character of the  piece is changed through the flutes’ ability to sustain notes. It enables a darker more  blended tone enhancing the sense of mystery of this unusual piece. The typical Baroque  embellishments were purposefully omitted; however performers should feel free to add stylistic embellishments.

Sweelinck and has been arranged for two Woodwind Quintets, each consisting of 1 Flute, 1 Clarinet in Bb, 1 Oboe, 1 French Horn and 1 Bassoon, by Regis Bookshar. I envision this arrangement to be performed antiphonally. It is perfect for Christmas concerts or church services but could also be performed for other festive occasions as well and is suitable for high school and college students. Included is a score and a complete set of parts (44 pages). Also available are other settings of this motet for a variety of instrumental ensembles as well as numerous other arrangements in a variety of styles. Arranged wind quintet Natural Horn in Bb ALTO Mozart wrote three early String Quartets in Salzburg in 1772 naming them Divertimenti. They are catalogued as K.136, K.137 and K.138. In form these Divertimenti are in three movements, which differs from his later divertimenti which have 4 or more movements. They are sometimes known as Salzburg Symphonies 1 to 3. K. 136, in D major, the best known of the three, opens with an Allegro, followed by an attractive G major slow movement and a rapid finale with the requisite touch of contrapuntal interest. K. 137, in B flat major, starts with an Andante, followed by two faster movements. The third of the set, K. 138, in F major, follows an opening tripartite Allegro with a C major Andante and a final Presto. This is no. 2 Arranged wind quintet. The melody is shared out between mainly flute and oboe...I have not done a straight swop from violin 1 to flute etc.... I have created a natural Horn part in Bb alto.

Lullay, mine liking is a Middle English lyric poem or carol of the 15th century which frames a narrative describing an encounter of the Nativity with a song sung by the Virgin Mary to the infant Christ. The refrain is an early example of an English lullaby; the term lullaby is thought to originate with the lu lu or la la sound made by mothers or nurses to calm children, and by or bye bye, another lulling sound (for example in the similarly ancient Coventry Carol)There are a number of surviving medieval English verses associated with the birth of Jesus which take the form of a lullaby, of which this is probably the most famous example.
