Originally written in 1713 and is part of the cantata Was mir behagt, ist nur die muntre Jagd, BWV 208 (Only the lively hunt pleases me), also known as the Hunting Cantata, Schafe können sicher weiden (Sheep May Safely Graze) is the ninth movement of the cantata. It is a selection frequently heard at weddings. The piece makes an excellent light classical number to add to a woodwind quintet concert.

Around The World In Nine Holiday Songs is an arrangement of several Christmas and holiday songs from around the world, including Jingle Bells (American), Wassail Song (English), O du Fröhliche (German), Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle (Italian), Les Anges Dans Nos Campagnes (French), Wexford Carol (Irish), Räven Raskar över Isen (Swedish), Ma’oz Tzur (Hebrew), and the Beethoven's Ninth chorus referred to in Japanese culture as Daiku, literally translating to number nine. These songs have a significant importance to peoples from around the world, whether celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, or the gift of life itself. L'amour des trois oranges, Op. 33, is a satirical French-language opera by Sergei Prokofiev. The work was commissioned by the director of the Chicago Opera Association afte Prokofiev's first visit to the United States, and premiered in Chicago in 1921. Its most familiar section is the March, used by CBS in the radio-drama series The FBI in Peace and War from 1944-1958, as an FBI leitmotiv in films like The Brink's Job (1978), and by Prokofiev himself in the ballet Cinderella. 1'55

Peaking at No. 4 in the United States and being certified five times platinum, the song addresses extravagance, glamour, and the party lifestyle. With elements of funk, disco, and contemporary R&B, this arrangement is a standout among woodwind quintet repertoire and would serve as a great concert closer or pop tune.

A beloved Christmas tune, It Came Upon A Midnight Clear was a poem & carol written in 1849 by Edmund Sears, with music written by Richard Storrs Willis. Sears wrote the hymn while serving as a part-time preacher. Writing during a period of personal melancholy, and with news of revolution in Europe and the United States' war with Mexico fresh in his mind, Sears portrayed the world as dark, full of sin and strife, and not hearing the Christmas message.

This arrangement features chorale and jazz renditions of the tune that is sure to keep the audience engaged, with an optional section for members of the group to improvise. Great for holiday concerts!
