The original piano piece by Alphons Czibulka was orchestrated by Lothar Windsperger under the name of Leo Artok for a 'theatre orchestra'. I heard the orchestral version on New Year's Day during the Vienna New Year concert and thought it would cheer up our bassoon player, Stephanie as she has been having a difficult time recently. A very pleasant little piece, not technically demanding, suitable for less formal concerts and ocasions.

This little fugue is one of Bach's most famous and beloved organ works.  Reimagined for woodwind quintet, it is a challenging and fun setting for this fugue.  The five instruments take turns entering with the subject of the fugue, and interplay back and forth with the other instruments.  The timbres of the different instruments add a whole new dimension to this already fascinating work by J.S. Bach.   I considered the need to breathe for each of this wind instruments, which obviously wasn't an issue in the original version intended for organ.  This piece would be appropriate for advanced high school students, college students, or professionals.  It would do well in a chamber music recital, a church,  or an online virtual concert. This Fantasia in D Minor, K. 397, really shows off Mozart's dramatic side.  My arrangement of this Fantasy, one of Mozart's most popular piano pieces, gives each instrument the opportunity to play a different character.  Fantasia in D Minor opens with somber arpeggios in the bassoon, and then goes to a pleading melody that goes back and forth between the flute and the oboe.  The tension builds up until the clarinet breaks out into a wild cadenza.  The pleading melodies and wild cadenzas go back and forth a few more times building tension until the final segment, which resolves with a bright, cheerful song-like melody in the horn.  Duration is approximately 6 minutes.I had a great time arranging this piece, and I hope you will enjoy playing it.  It presents some unique challenges and expressive opportunities, and it is a real crowd-pleaser.

The melody moves around between the different instruments as if they are having a conversation. This is a challenging and enjoyable arrangement, suitable for advanced students or professionals. The beauty and romance of this piece would make it great as wedding music.  It would also be suitable for a chamber music concert, or in a school or church.
