Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.914154 Composed by Tom Swafford. Blues,Contemporary,Jazz. 31 pages. Tom Swafford #3585291. Published by Tom Swafford (A0.914154). Fun, energetic, programmatic piece for woodwind quintet. The title comes from signs around Times Square in the early 2000s directing traffic away from Broadway. The piece begins with a depiction of the honking of horns and yelling of motorists, which transforms into a dance-like blues shuffle.  Amidst the chaos is a quote from J. S. Bach's C-sharp minor fugue (BWV 873). The piece is in 12/8, with a written-out swing rhythm, playable by musicians from a classical or jazz background. Duration: 4 minutes. www.tomswafford.com ASCAP .

Arranged by Dennis Ruello. 20th Century,Country,Historic,Patriotic,Singer/Songwriter. 18 pages. Chicory Music #5985529. Published by Chicory Music (A0.734486). God Bless the U.S.A. (also known as Proud to Be an American) is an American patriotic song written and recorded by American country music artist Lee Greenwood, and is considered to be his signature song. The first album it appears on is 1984's You've Got a Good Love Comin'. It reached No. 7 on the Billboard magazine Hot Country Singles chart when originally released in the spring of 1984, and was played at the 1984 Republican National Convention with President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan in attendance, but the song gained greater prominence during the Gulf War in 1990 and 1991, as a way of boosting morale, and was re-included on his 1992 album American Patriot as a result of its newfound popularity. The popularity of the song rose sharply after the September 11 attacks and during the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and the song was re-released as a single, re-entering the country music charts at No. 16 and peaking at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart in 2001. The song was also re-recorded in 2003 and released as God Bless the U.S.A. 2003. Greenwood also wrote a Canadian version of this song called God Bless You Canada. The song has sold over a million copies in the United States by July 2015.This version is arranged in Bb concert for Woodwind Quintet plus Optional Acoustic Bass and Drum Set at the Intermediate Level.Performance time: approx. 3 minutes.

Small Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.818162 Composed by Gabriel Faure. Arranged by Philip Le Bas. 20th Century. Score and parts. 113 pages. Philip Le Bas #3590141. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.818162). Faure’s piano duet entitled Dolly Suite is here arranged by Philip Le Bas for a wind sextet, consisting of a standard wind quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon) plus bass clarinet. The bass clarinet gives the music more sonority and it allows the arranger more opportunity to bring out Faure’s sumptuous harmonies. Dolly was the nickname of the baby daughter of Emma Bardac, with whom Faure had a long-running affair, and each of the pieces has a slightly different association with childhood.1)   The Berceuse (lullaby) is best remembered as the theme tune to the BBC’s Listen with Mother, and its tune is indelibly marked into the memories of generations of radio listeners between 1950 and 1982. It was written for Dolly’s first birthday. (An alternative part for clarinet in A is available for this movement, to avoid the otherwise slightly tricky key signature of F sharp major!)2)   Mi-a-ou has nothing to do with cats, but is a version of Dolly’s first attempts to pronounce the name of her brother Raoul. Written for her second birthday, it is a delicate and playful scherzo with lots of cross-rhythms for the instruments.3)   Le Jardin de Dolly is regarded by some as the best piece in the collection, with its gorgeous tune and unexpected harmonies, creating an impressionistic picture of a beautiful, peaceful French garden.4)   Kitty-Valse again has nothing to do with cats but with the family dog Ketty, who whirls round and round, in unrelenting cheerfulness.5)   In Tendresse Faure introduces more chromatic harmonies, used in his later works. As its name and its key of D flat suggests, the music here seems to express deep and shifting emotions associated with intimate relationships, while retaining a sense of calm and comfort throughout.6)   The last piece, Le Pas Espagnole is a thrilling journey across the border into the exotic Spanish world of dance. There is much in common with Chabrier’s Espana, and here the wind players can enjoy playing at full tilt in an exciting and tuneful end to the suite.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912635 Composed by Johnson Lee. Contemporary,World. 35 pages. Johnson lee #2897207. Published by johnson lee (A0.912635). https://youtu.be/0hVSzb1pUP0INTERSTELLAR   First movement - Astronomical Space   Synopsis   Astronomical Space is the void that exists between celestial bodies. However, the space is not completely empty, between, the vacuum consists of electromagnetic radiation, magnetic fields and dust and cosmic rays.    Within this space, planets and moon freely orbits in their path. An unseen force is behind the organized path and movement of these planets in the galaxy.   This movement uses different aspects of palindrome concept to depict the organised space in music. First, the time signature expands and contracts in palindromic fashion, indicating an orderly manner in which the music orbits. Next, the intervals expands exponentially and also contracts in retrograde fashion.   Analysis   This movement uses palindrome concept for compositional technique. Rhythmically, it is palindromic in nature. The note values starts from a minim to dotted crotchet, crotchet, quaver, semiquavers.  The time signature also expands and contract palandromically, starting from 2/4, 3/4 , 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, 5/4, 4/4, 3/4, 2/4.   The intervallic relationships are also in palindrome. Ascending from middle C the interval starts with Minor 2nd and expands exponentially to Major 2nd, Minor 3rd , Major 3rd, Perfect 4th , Augmented 4th , Perfect 5th to the tonic.   Conversely, the intervals descend in similar fashion.       French Horn begins with Low G (Concert C) and builds up this set of intervals reaching high B (Concert E). This melody is repeated by the Clarinet at the start of the new time signature of 3/ 4. Oboe enters at the next time signature of 4 /4. Flute at time signature of 5/4 and Bassoon at time signature of 6/4. The retrograde inversion of this motif is announced by the French Horn, this time starting on its high G (Concert C). Behind all this build up, the intervallic motif as shown above is played. At section A, this motif is announced without the rhythmic palindrome. The motif and its inversion builds up to a climax and re-asserts its presence with all the instruments playing at Bar before rehearsal mark B.  The piece ends with the French horn performing the same motif at the beginning of this movement.         Second Movement - Celestial Bodies   Synopsis   Celestial bodies or Astronomical objects refers to a single cohesive structure that is bound together usually by gravity or electromagnetism. Some examples includes asteroids, moons, planets and the stars. These objects or bodies may range from a single planet to star clusters, nebulae or entire galaxies and they have their position in space.     This movement uses whole tone scale. The whole tone scale is used in this movement as it does not create sharp dissonances and the space between each interval is equal whichever way you stack the notes.   The main melody, 8 bars long is repeated in canonic fashion. A countermelody is announced and also repeated by the ensemble in canonic fashion. Thereafter, both melodies will merge and this movement ends with a chord consisting of the whole tone scale starting on B.   The music gradually unveils the each axis of the motion in which the astronomi.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1302815 Composed by Erik Satie. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Chamber. 10 pages. RayThompsonMusic #892418. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1302815). Satie: Sarabande No.1  Arranged standard wind quintetThe Sarabandes are three dances for solo piano composed in 1887 by Erik Satie. Along with the famous Gymnopédies (1888) they are regarded as his first important works, and the ones upon which his reputation as a harmonic innovator and precursor of modern French music, beginning with Debussy, principally rests. The Sarabandes also played a key role in Satie's belated discovery by his country's musical establishment in the 1910s, setting the stage for his international notoriety.French composer and critic Alexis Roland-Manuel wrote in 1916 that the Sarabandes represented a milestone in the evolution of our music...pieces of an unprecedented harmonic technique, born of an entirely new aesthetic, which create a unique atmosphere, a sonorous magic of complete originality. The sarabande is a dance in triple meter that originated in the Spanish colonies of Central America in the mid-1500s. It had migrated to Europe by the 17th Century, where in France it became a popular slow court dance. Satie's modern reinterpretations consist of three dances with a total duration of roughly 15 minutes:Sarabande No. 1 - A-flat major (This one)Sarabande No. 2 - D-sharp minorSarabande No. 3 - B-flat minorThe melody is shared amongst the top 4 instruments, and the quintet do not play tutti all of the time. This adds more interest and variation to the piece.Enjoy.
