By David Kai. By David Kai. Arranged by David Kai. Christian,Contemporary,Folk,Rock. Full Performance. Duration 215. David Kai #708367. Published by David Kai (A0.1105120).

This fun song was written when heart transplants were fairly new and still in the news. The song depicts the healing ministry of Jesus brought into modern times. Since people like to put music into categories, the style could be roughly described as being country/bluegrass/synth-driven/gospel pop, which might make it pretty unique! The song was first recorded by the Christian rock group, Whitestone. The Great Healer words and music by David Kai ©1980 I’ve had a heart transplant with a bit of a difference, it may seem rather odd No scalpel, no surgeon, no anesthetic, just between me and God And now a new life beats inside of me, it’s more than mere words can describe My heart keeps time to the rhythm of the Spirit inside Well I went fishing for the truth to life, but I opened up a can of worms False religions and philosophies, misleading me at every turn Well I soon realized that knowledge is fine, but it’s really just a place to start ‘Cause you can change your mind but it’s God that has to change your heart Chorus: Yes, he’s the great healer, in a world of pain and strife He’s the great healer, and he can mend a broken life And though your hurts be too much to bear He can heal your wounds with his loving care And give you a new life that will never die So if you feel that you’ve lost all your reason to live Good and bad look the same And you’re walking around more dead than alive Life clotting up in your veins Just end your confusion, accept a transfusion of love from the heavenly Lord And to your surprise you’ll find that you have been restored Chorus:.

The Children of the World (July 1969)
Words by Phil Cummings, music by Glyn Lehmann

For children in nineteen sixty nine
There were new games to play
To the children of that far off time
There was wonder in that July Day

A rocket flew with fire and flame
Across a wide open sky
On TV screens around the world
Children saw that rocket fly

Young hearts beat a rhythm
Great minds played their part
The children of the world held their breath
As Armstrong placed a print upon their hearts

At night the children gazed at the stars
Their faces lit by silver moonlight
And tried to imagine the the view
Of those on that Apollo flight

Kids flew in missions to save the world
Created games and stories and schemes
Their bikes flew like asteroids
Treehouses were rockets in dreams

The children of the world in streets everyday
Saw flickering screens in shop window displays
Photos without colour on newspaper spreads
Books about space strewn across beds

By Ben Folds. By Ben Folds. Arranged by Kyle Pudenz. Contemporary,Folk,Pop,Rock,Wedding. Score and parts. 21 pages. ViolinVagabond Music #6348963. Published by ViolinVagabond Music (A0.845990).

This instrumental setting of Ben Folds's heartfelt ballad, The Luckiest will make an excellent addition to your quartet's gig book. If your client requests to hear this song as they walk down the aisle, as opposed to the usual Bridal Chorus, Wedding March, Canon in D, or *shudder* Don't Stop Believing, reward them for their excellent taste in contemporary love songs by serenading them with an arrangement that truly shines!

I've done my best to pay homage to Ben's original piano part by spreading some of the arpeggios between the violin & viola to create a sort of cascading pizzicato. The good news is you can perform this completely on your own as a quartet, no need to hire a pianist to accompany you. The less good news is you probably won't want to try sight-reading this unless you really trust that your internal rhythmic compasses are completely in sync, but with a very small amount of rehearsal a professional ensemble should have no problem tackling this chart, and I promise it will be really pretty! Your audiences will be fighting back tears almost as hard as they fought you on the price to book your ensemble for the gig ;-)

This sentimental serenade will surely be a hit in settings such as...
-Weddings
-Wedding showers
-Wedding conventions
-Wedding advertisement videos
-Funerals
-Chamber music shows
-Coffee shops
-Retirement parties
-Yoga studios
-Meditation sessions
-Did I mention weddings? (...yes, I wrote this chart for a wedding gig)

Performance time - approximately 4:30 for the full chart, but can be tailored to your gig's needs by skipping a verse or chorus. Each section is labeled on the chart in case of such a requirement.

Choral Choir (3-Part) - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.844645

Composed by Phil Beaman. Folk,Jazz,Spiritual. Octavo. 13 pages. Phil Beaman #4719605. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.844645).

This piece is a Showstopper! Rock-a-My-Soul is a Choral piece based on the traditional folk/gospel/spiritual. I originally envisioned this piece for a Middle School Choir, but it works well with any group that wants to have fun. It is written in 3 part Treble clef which the conductor may assign as they see fit for their choir and performance. (Part 3 works very well with male voices.) Parts all stay within an octave from Middle C to C above.
This lively version uses many styles of jazz to drive this piece, yet there is also a recurring descending third ostinato which is the rocking comfort this piece imparts.   The piano part plays an important role in driving this piece and setting the moods. Each of the seven sections shifts the mood and jazz style but maintains a level of energy.
After completing the jazz arrangements of the traditional chorus I tried various ways to extend the piece. One day while working on this piece I saw a news clip about another school bullying incident. I immediately made the connection -- at its heart Rock-a-My-Soul is really about overcoming obstacles to find comfort and acceptance. So I wrote some additional lyrics to create an anti-bullying, anti-depression section. I have soloists deliver the main lines to make it personal and invitational then the choir backs them up, call and response style, with Everything's gonna be alright.
Lyrics throughout are all carefully worded so that the song may be used for either secular or sacred purposes. The context and location where it is sung will flesh out the implied and intended meaning. If sung in school it means you have friends here who accept you; if sung in your place of worship then it means that your God accepts you.
Simple power, beauty and meaning all wrapped in joyous jazz!

SKU: A0.1268290

By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Contemporary,Pop. 17 pages. RayThompsonMusic #860853. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1268290).

Arranged standard wind quintet.

A Day in the Life is a song by the English rock band the Beatles that was released as the final track of their 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Credited to Lennon–McCartney, the opening and closing sections of the song were mainly written by John Lennon, with Paul McCartney primarily contributing the song's middle section. All four Beatles played a role in shaping the final arrangement of the song.

Lennon's lyrics were mainly inspired by contemporary newspaper articles, including a report on the death of Guinness heir Tara Browne. The recording includes two passages of orchestral glissandos that were partly improvised in the avant-garde style. In the song's middle segment, McCartney recalls his younger years, which included riding the bus, smoking, and going to class. Following the second crescendo, the song ends with one of the most famous chords in music history, played on several keyboards, that sustains for over forty seconds.
My version of the crescendo for 5 instruments! has chromatic scales played in different note values, over a repeating E on bassoon...it seems to work!

The melody is taken by the clarinet, oboe and flute.

The mp3 is the end of the middle section, leading into the final verse.

The video is the complete piece.
