In The bleak Midwinter by Holst arranged for brass by David Catherwood

Gustav Holst's beautiful tune in a simple but effective arrangement.

This arrangement is suitable for almost any combination of brass instruments. The arrangement allows for a great deal of flexibility in presentation and will sound complete with as few as four players yet the scoring allows for brass quartet, orchestral brass quintet and small brass band all with optional percussion.

Wind Quintet - Scherzo for Bassoon ‘Tembo’ 

The bass instruments are sometimes overlooked when it comes to solo repertoire so ‘Tembo’ is a fun piece designed to feature the bassoon. 

Tembo is an African word for elephant and this piece was inspired by the famous bass solo ‘The Elephant’ from Saint-Saëns’ ‘Carnival of the Animals’ 

This arrangement for quintet allows the bassoon to shine over the whole range of the instrument in a playful way as indicated by the term Scherzo.
