In 1988 my wife and I were sent by our church to take part in the World Conference on Liturgical Music in Rome at the Vatican.  It was so exciting for us to go on our first trip to the Eternal City!!  We took a taxi to the Vatican and it let us off right within walking distance of St. Peter's Basilica!  It was so overwhelming, exciting, and beautiful all at once; it was almost too much to take in!  After that wonderful week when I returned I set down and began to improvise at the piano to see what I might be able to express about the experience.  What came to me almost immediately was the memory of the sound of chant in that great space!  I came up with a very contemporary combination of old and new in a jazz framework.

This fun piece is all about moving the congregation from the church in a dancing mood!  I discovered this one as an improvisation, working to experiment with jazz phrasing that would work technically to achieve the same feel on the organ that I get when I improvise on the piano.  I hope you will agree when you take a look at it that it will work well for you to have fun as well!
