The elegy for Jerzy Popieluszko is a memorial to the Polish Catholic priest who was murdered by the authorities for his outspokenness during the tumult in that country. If time is a factor, this work can be successfully done by just playing the first three movements, or perhaps performing movements 1, 4, and 3 in that order. This is serious, reflective music with rewards for both performers and audience. For advance players.
