Composed by Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz,World. Score and parts. 7 pages. Juan Maria Solare #4794263. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596574).

Reencuentro (Reunion):

Slow Milonga (country-side milonga) written down after a visit to the cemetery at El Escorial (Spain) on 30 March 2008. This is the typical piece that is destilated in concentric stages: first a lead sheet version (only melody and chords), later a simple piano solo version that starts to become more and more complex.

The easy piano version was written on 7 April 2008 and finished in Berlin on 9th April 2008. Premiere of this version for piano solo: by the composer on 3 July 2008 at the theatre of the University in Bremen, during a concert of the Orquesta No Típica. Premiere in the Americas by Iván Pérez Faccaro on 27 November 2008 at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Buenos Aires Ãstor Piazzolla (Argentina). Incluided in the CD Tango Monologues (January 2010) by Juan María Solare. (https://open.spotify.com/track/71ksY7eCbpeKM1Kjj2x9KT)

Second version, for piano four hands, written in Köln on April 17, 2008. There are first corrections made in Köln on November 7, 2008, which echo the versions made in between. Premiere by Helga Beier & Markus Deinhard on Thursday, May 27, 2010, recital Klavier 1- bis 6-händig in the theater of the University of Bremen.

By Rich Mullins. By Rich Mullins. Arranged by Phyllis Hopper. Blues,Contemporary. Score and parts. 40 pages. HopSez Productions #504843. Published by HopSez Productions (A0.898530).

This light-hearted piece is a lot of fun to play. Arranged for a k-12 school's pep band. An optional intro uses body percussion to potentially engage the audience. The first musical section is part A, all parts melody; the second section is part A, all parts harmony. You can mix and match. The third section is the B portion of the song, with mixed melody and harmony. The third section is back to part A, but with parts dropping out, then everybody comes back in to wallop the last note. The piece is designed for easy repetition, so the music can be sustained for as long as you want. Hope you have a lot of fun playing around with this!

Composed by Traditional Christmas Carol. Arranged by Karen Almquist. Christmas,Classical,Holiday,Sacred,Traditional. Score and parts. 7 pages. Published by Karen K. Almquist (A0.506990).

What Child is This (also known as Greensleeves) is an early intermediate duet for pedal harp. It begins with a music box effect and builds to a triumphant chorus. The Harp 1 part uses both hands in the treble clef. At the chorus, Harp 1 builds to forte playing glissandos and triads doubled in both hands. Harp 2 plays eighth note arpeggios in the treble clef at the beginning. At the chorus it alternates LH octaves and RH chords in the bass clef for a full sound.

I make piano solo arrangements for my students of songs that they love! My goal is to create something that sounds beautiful as a standalone piece of music, but most importantly, that it actually makes pianistic sense. Sometimes I even hide exercises in the arrangements that I want a student to work on. All of my arrangements are usually made for a specific student, so the results will always vary.

This arrangement was made for an early intermediate student in level 3 of the Alfred's Masterwork Classics series. She is working on another piece where the RH crosses over quite a bit, so I decided to create a good practice etude-ish version of What Child is This, since we are also preparing for a Christmas Recital. The reprise of the main melody is identical in the RH and LH, except the RH crosses over the LH the entire time. Overall, the piece has a very mysterious feel that really suits the melody and lovely to hear. Be careful if the tempo is slowed down too much because the dissonances might stick out more than preferred, so the LH will have to be played at pp in order to not distract from the pretty melody.

I give fingering and pedal suggestions.
