On October 30, 1946, Nat King Cole recorded the song in his trio with Oscar Moore on guitar and Johnny Miller on double bass, during a live broadcast from New York City. Cole performed it on television in 1957 for The Nat King Cole Show.

This is an energetic medium swing arrangement of the 1933 Jerome Kern, Otto Harbach classic. Arranged in the New York Voices style, this chart was debuted by Darmon's college level ensemble at the 2024 New York Voices Western Michigan Vocal Jazz Camp. This is a relatively challenging arrangement designed for an advanced high school or college group. There are a few shorter lyric solos, and plenty of room for vocal or instrumental improvisation. This chart is a bit challenging, but worth the effort. The tenors and basses have a LOT of 3rds/7ths relationships, so many tri-tones to be sung. If you've got some strong tenors and basses, give it a try!

‘Love Nest’ or ‘The Love Nest’ was originally written in 1920 by Louis A. Hirsch and Otto Harbach for a musical comedy show called ‘Mary’. It later became the theme song for the Burns and Allen show on the radio. After being recorded by Paul Whiteman, Jimmy Dorsey, Nat King Cole and so on, it has become a popular vehicle for other jazz players. There is a section where any instrument has the opportunity to solo. The arrangement is orthophonic without the optional Tenor Saxophone part.
