Jeux (French for Games) was written with young clarinettists in mind. It features a jaunty melody, which is shared with each player, and a sprightly accompaniment. A second but slower melody has some leaps in register to challenge the performers. A Da Capo returns to the first melody and finishes with a short Coda. The choice of 'friendly' clarinet keys creates the opportunity to reinforce the importance of scales.-Peter Jackson.
