Late October is a 12 page advanced intermediate level piece in the key of E flat major (though it spends most of its time in A flat lydian). It is from my album 'The Open Road', a collection of 14 of my solo piano compositions. There is nothing quite like fall in New England, and there is also a very poignant beauty to be found in that time after the tourists have all gone home, after the brilliant colors have faded, before the leaves have all fallen to the ground. It is that stark beauty that inspired this piece.
