They are used in uniform combinations, in mixed combinations, and in four-note arpeggiated sets, as well as block chords and a final mixing of inversions as well. Each section has its own characteristic rhythm and dynamic as well, for added variety. The splashes of color created by the bubbling movements in sequences separated by minor and major thirds is reminiscent of Ravel's writing in his early piano music.
