He is known for his choral music, hymns, and anthems, which were popular in both the Anglican and Nonconformist churches.Adams also worked as a music publisher and was the proprietor of the music shop Adams and Co. in London. He was a founding member of the Royal Society of Musicians and received the honour of being appointed the organist of the Chapel Royal in 1836.Despite his many accomplishments, Adams’s music has largely fallen out of favour and is rarely performed today.
