Mixed Percussion B-Flat Tuba,B-Flat trombone,Baritone Horn TC/Euphonium,Bass Trombone,E-Flat Cornet,E-Flat Tenor Horn,E-Flat Tuba TC,Flugelhorn,Percussion 1,Percussion 2,Tenor Trombone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.887517 Composed by Giuseppe Verdi, Gordon Jacob, John Golland, and Michael Ball. Arranged by Gordon Jacob, Harry Mortimer (editor), John Golland, Michael Ball, and Roy Newsome. Standards. Brass Band. 154 pages. Forsyth Brothers Ltd #3486125. Published by Forsyth Brothers Ltd (A0.887517). A great value set of FIVE original compositions/arrangements by prominent 20th Century British big band arrangers John Golland, Gordon Jacob, Roy Newsome and Michael Ball, and edited by Harry Mortimer. The Bandkraft series is a collection of superb arrangements and original compositions (actually gems) for brass band that is challenging and enjoyable for polished performers, while within the grasp of players of more limited technique. The flexible nature of the arrangements means that the pieces can also be played successfully when not every part is present.Includes:1. Bandkraft – John GollandA substantial piece with an exciting syncopated rhythm introduced in the opening bars and referred to throughout in a fanfare-like manner, to which a hint of dissonance adds extra thrill to the sound.2. Saraband – Gordon JacobA stately Elizabethan dance of great beauty that utilises modal harmony in Jacob’s characteristic style. Constant speed, full note values and careful playing will achieve a beautiful, delicate effect.3. La Donna E Mobile – Verdi, arr. Roy NewsomeAn amusing arrangement of a popular favourite by a conductor and adjudicator of international acclaim. Easy and enjoyable to play and to listen to.4. Spike’s Rag – Michael BallA skilfully written piece in the true tradition of Scott Joplin, with the ragtime rhythms the backdrop to an unfolding conversation between the sections of the band. Really persuasive entertainment.5. National Anthem (British) – arr. John GollandA simple first verse setting the scene for the colourful and majestic second, utilising chromatic harmonies and an optional tenor counter melody for added splendour.Instrumentation:Soprano CornetCornet 1Cornet 2/FlugelCornet 3Horn 1Horn 2Horn 3Baritone 1/Trombone 1Baritone 2/Trombone 2Bass TromboneEuphoniumE Flat BassB Flat BassPercussionFull score (including two stave reduction)All BandKraft titles assume a reasonable level of competence on each instrument (approx. Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553712 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century. 24 pages. RayThompsonMusic #3540881. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553712). The First Suite in E♭ for Military Band, Op. 28, No. 1, by the British composer Gustav Holst is considered one of the cornerstone masterworks in the concert band repertoire. Officially premiered in 1920 at the Royal Military School of Music, the manuscript was originally completed in 1909. Along with the subsequent Second Suite in F for Military Band, written in 1911 and premiered in 1922, the First Suite was the catalysing force that convinced many other prominent composers that serious music could be written specifically for the combination of woodwinds, percussion and brass.  Works such as the English Folk Song Suite (1923) of Ralph Vaughan Williams and the William Byrd Suite (1923) of Gordon Jacob are leading examples. This is my arrangement of the second movement Intermezzo It is arranged for wind dectet/double wind quintet and bass.

Brass Ensemble,Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1509045 By Samantha Hogan. By Samantha Hogan. Arranged by Samantha Hogan. 21st Century,Christmas,Medieval,Renaissance,Sacred. 54 pages. Coffee Seal Music #1084296. Published by Coffee Seal Music (A0.1509045). Timing: 6-8 MinutesDifficulty- later Intermediate -Advanced, due to the key signature.Suitable For: Any time of the year, but especially around Christmas time, or at a concert that needs a Medieval flair.Gaudete is perhaps the most famous Christmas melody from the Middle Ages, likely dating from the 1500s, and covered by many a modern band, including The King's Singers, Erasure, and Steeleye Span, to name a few.To write this piece, I took motifs from the tune and wrote my own melodies, avoiding a direct transcription of any part of the original melody.  Mvt 1, Fanfare, is a bright opening to the suite. After all, the word Gaudete translates to “rejoice”!Mvt 2 plays with the Pavane and Galliard feel. Both are distinct dances, and while this movement is more somber than danceable to the average listener, it utilizes some tricks that the medieval composers used, as well as draws inspiration from medieval compositional techniques for harmonies. Just like medieval dances, if you were to add a repeat sign at the end, you could play this movement ad nauseam and choose to never end it.Mvt 3, Scherzo, plays with your expectation of time but is a fun jaunt after the serious tone of Mvt 2 nonetheless. If you like Gordon Jacob (not a Renaissance composer), you’ll probably like this movement.I’ve included Mvt 0, Just Gaudete, as a bonus. You may begin or end the suite with this movement, play the opening statement to introduce the audience to the tune, or omit it entirely. You may even shuffle the order of movements if you’d like.
