Small Ensemble Piano Accompaniment,Trombone - Digital Download

SKU: A0.927171

Composed by George Willson. Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 10 pages. George Willson #3516869. Published by George Willson (A0.927171).

A trombone solo with piano accompaniment, the Overture For Alto Trombone was intended to serve as an opening piece for a soloist's concert. Although fast and relentless, it is not intended to be overly difficult, but a solid middle ground in a repertoire.

As a trombone player, George Willson noted that unlike the wealth of choices for tenor trombone, works for alto trombone were few and far between. As such, he decided to write something to help fill this gap ensuring the piece to be written for the Eb alto trombone specifically and to be the most playable on it rather than a transposition from another instrument.

George Willson has been a performer, composer, and conductor for thirty years in various mediums and ensembles.

Mp3 performance is a midi extracted from the composition program.

Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Contest,Festival,Standards,Traditional. Score and parts. 47 pages. Jmsgu3 #126413. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.515699).

J. S. Bach: French Suite No. 5 BWV 816 Duration: 16:10 Score: 20 pages. Contents: Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Gavotte, Bourrée I, Bourrée II, Gigue.

Johann Sebastian Bach is widely considered one of the greatest composers of all time. He was born in Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany in 1685 and is best known for his mastery of the Baroque era of musical composition. One of Bach's most beloved works is the set of French Suites, which he composed in the years between 1722 and 1725. These suites consist of six movements, usually in the forms of allemandes, courantes, sarabandes, gigues, and minuets, which Bach filled with intricate ornamentation.

The French Suites were highly influential to later composers, particularly those of the Classical and Romantic periods. Bach's inventiveness in the suites marked a new level of finesse and virtuosity in composition. He also demonstrated his ability to work with preexisting forms and conventions to create a unified and well-crafted whole. The French Suites continue to be performed around the world today, and they remain some of the best-known and most appreciated works.

Composed by Franz Xaver Gruber. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Instructional,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 12 pages. Regis Bookshar #6636651. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813994).

String Octet - Intermediate - Digital Download. This arrangement of Silent Night, or in German, Stille Nacht, would be a wonderful addition to any music library and could be performed for Christmas concerts, recitals, and, especially, church services. It is equally suitable for junior and senior high school students and even older musicians. Depending on their ability, younger musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (12 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.

Silent Night is probably the most popular Christmas carol ever written. It was composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr and was first performed on Christmas Eve at St. Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf, a small village in present-day Austria. A young Catholic priest, Father Joseph Mohr, had written the poem, Stille Nacht, in 1816 and had gone to Oberndorf in 1817. The melody was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber, schoolmaster and organist in the nearby village of Arnsdorf. On Christmas Eve, 1818, Mohr brought the words to Gruber and asked him to compose a melody and guitar accompaniment for that night's mass, after river flooding had possibly damaged the church organ. The church was eventually destroyed by repeated flooding and has since been replaced with the Silent-Night-Chapel.

According to Gruber, Karl Mauracher, an organ builder who serviced the instrument at the Oberndorf church, was enamored with the song, and took the composition home with him to the Ziller Valley in Tyrol, Austria. From there, two traveling families of folk singers, the Strassers and the Rainers, included the tune in their shows. The Rainers were already singing it around Christmas, 1819, and once performed it for an audience that included Franz I of Austria and Alexander I of Russia. They also gave the first performance of the song in the United States in New York City in 1839. By the 1840's, the song was well known and was reported to be a favorite of Frederick William IV of Prussia. During this period, the melody changed slightly to become the version that is commonly heard today. The version of the melody that is generally used today is a slow, meditative lullaby, or pastoral, differing slightly from Gruber's original which has a moderate tempo. The song has been translated into about 140 languages and has been recorded by many singers across many music genres. The version sung by Bing Crosby in 1935, has sold over 10 million copies as a single.

In this arrangement of Silent Night, Regis Bookshar has kept the basic form of this familiar Christmas carol, but has also included a descant during the third verse. Also, in addition to this version for a String Octet, consisting of 3 Violins, 2 Violas, 2 Violoncellos and 1 Double Bass, there are other arrangements of Silent Night available for a variety of instrumental ensembles. There are Quintets and Octets readily available for purchase. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.

I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Silent Night will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

By Keith Terrett. By Duke Ellington/Barney Bigard. Arranged by Keith Terrett. 20th Century,Jazz,Standards. 11 pages. Keith Terrett #865274. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1273084).

An arrangement of C Jam Blues for Brass Quintet. The extra parts are not necessary, but are provided if you have extra players such as a Bb Piccolo Trumpet & Bb Trombone/Euphonium in TC.

New Orleans-born clarinetist Barney Bigard is likely the originator of this tune, a simple blues riff in the key of C. Since Bigard was a veteran member of Duke Ellington’s Orchestra in 1941, Duke had a slice of the pie, too, and undoubtedly arranged the piece for the orchestra. Yet Duke referred to the number somewhat disparagingly as “one of our more or less trite things.â€

The number was introduced in a Soundie short film. These three-minute features, produced to be shown on a jukebox-type player, illustrated the band miming to a pre-recorded performance. Entitled “Jam Session†the Soundie was filmed late in 1941 along with four other Ellington numbers. Duke introduces various band members, who then solo: Ray Nance (violin), Ben Webster (tenor sax), Rex Stewart (cornet), Joe “Tricky Sam†Nanton (trombone), and Sonny Greer (drums). The complete ensemble carries the tune to its finish with composer Bigard (clarinet) providing some improvised upper register piping.

“C Jam Blues†was formally recorded under that title in January, 1942, for RCA Victor Records. It continued be a staple of the Ellington repertoire, generally featuring a handful of the soloists in the band.

Co-composer Barney Bigard left Duke’s band in June 1942, and after a period of freelancing joined Louis Armstrong’s All-Stars in August, 1947. “C Jam Blues†was one of his nightly features with Satch’s ensemble along with “Tea for Two.†Despite playing the tune hundreds, or perhaps even thousands of times during his tenure with Ellington and Armstrong, he continued to perform it during his freelance years in the 1950s until shortly before his death in 1980.

In the late-1950s very simple words were added (“Baby, let’s go down to ‘Duke’s Place’,†etc.) which strangely took a three-member team of writers to assemble: songwriters William Katz and Ruth Roberts and record producer Bob Thiele. Clarinetist Barney Bigard was not included in the composer credits of the song version, although he was a member of Louis Armstrong’s All-Stars when they recorded “Duke’s Place,†featuring Louis on the vocal, with Ellington in 1961.

The piece typically features several improvised solos. The final solo continues in the upper register as the entire ensemble comes in and the music grows to a climax. The melody likely originated from the clarinetist Barney Bigard in 1941, but its origin is not perfectly clear.

It was also known as Duke’s Place, with lyrics added by Bill Katts, Bob Thiele and Ruth Roberts Western Swing band leader Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys recorded the song sometime between mid-1945 through 1947 as part of the Tiffany Transcriptions.

The 10-note occasional riff formed the basis of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band’s novelty song Intro Outro.

Composed by Saverio Mercadante. This edition: Sheet music. Flute romantic virtuoso. Downloadable. Duration 10 minutes, 30 seconds. Musikverlag Zimmermann - Digital #Q49544. Published by Musikverlag Zimmermann - Digital (S9.Q49544).

Key: G major. German • English • French.

Mercadante was highly respected by many composers of his time. As well as postulating the maxim that the effect of an entire orchestra should always be given priority over the effect of a single instrument, Mercadante's teachers at the Neapolitan school also showed great interest in chamber music. In contrast to Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti, Mercadante continued to compose instrumental music after finishing his musical training. By doing so, he gradually found his own musical language which combined the pleasures of musical lyricism and instrumental bravura while also enlarging his knowledge of individual instruments. Both the fantasia presented here and the sonata (cf ZZM 31150) for solo flute with ad libitum accompaniment of a second flute or violin reflect the vast instrumental knowledge which Mercadante acquired over the years.

By The Manhattan Transfer. By Michel Paul Fugain and Wayne Shanklin. Arranged by Sandra Milliken. Contemporary. 10 pages. Sandra Milliken #6645909. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774780).

Chanson d'Amour (sometimes referred to as The Ra-Da-Da-Da-Da Song) is a popular piece written by the American singer, songwriter and producer, Wayne Shanklin. In 1958 Shanklin had suggested the song to a California lounge circuit duo Art and Dotty Todd. They liked the song and produced a demo recording, which was later released as a single by Era Records.

Then, almost 20 years later, in 1976, the vocal jazz quartet The Manhattan Transfer came across a demo on cassette and decided to record a remake of Chanson d'Amour for their Coming Out album. The track featured Janis Siegel singing lead with an Edith Piaf sound.

Whilst overlooked in the United States in its single release, Manhattan Transfer's version became a hit across Europe in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Norway and Switzerland. In the English-speaking world it was a chart topper in the UK and Ireland as well as in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

The song had become Manhattan Transfer's most widespread international success.

This arrangement is also available for flute choir and string ensemble.

Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. Classical,Film/TV,Instructional,March,Romantic Period. 10 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #784156. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1184428).

This arrangement adapted for violin trio was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, in order to be performed by young music students who want to enter the symphonic music. Besides, it can also be used by professional musicians, for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations and didactic material. As much as it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion. The transcription is faithful to the structure, with only one change of key, so that it is comfortable for all the instruments in the formation, as well as for use in ensemble practice between musicians of different traditions.

Ludwig van Beethoven began concentrated work on his Symphony No. 7 in A major Op. 92 in 1811, it was completed in 1812, and was dedicated to Count Moritz von Fries, and premiered in Vienna on December 8, 1813. It is considered a remarkable example of the more ebullient side of Beethoven's compositional personality and evidence that even after the onset of deafness, he still found cause for musical optimism. The second movement Allegretto is a funeral march in everything but name. Often several contrasting melodic ideas are made to coexist, as if Beethoven were imagining several processions converging on the cemetery at the same time. As he was working on this symphony during the years of the Napoleonic Wars, this experience was probably within his experience. It was also used as the soundtrack to the film Knowing, by director Alex Proyas and starring Nicolas Cage, where it is used in the final scene of the film. Beethoven called Symphony No. 7 his most excellent symphony, and a music critic of the time reported, this symphony is the most melodically rich and the most pleasing and comprehensible of all Beethoven's symphonies..
