Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Trio Bass Clarinet,Flute,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1329437 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Christian,Christmas,Holiday,Traditional. 6 pages. Jmsgu3 #917418. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1329437). O Little Town of Bethlehem is a beloved Christmas carol with an exciting history. It was written by Phillips Brooks in 1868 for the Sunday school children at his Philadelphia parish, Holy Trinity Church, following a pilgrimage to Bethlehem in 1865. The hymn beautifully describes the little town asleep on the December night. It gracefully modulates from a description of Christmas into examining the meaning of Christmas, encouraging charity, faith, and the coming of Christ into the human heart. The hymn is generally sung to its original tune, St. Louis by Louis H. Redner in the United States, and to Forest Green by Ralph Vaughan Williams in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Ireland. The hymn has continued to be a favorite for many people as they celebrate Christmas.

Published by Music for a While (A0.1324537). CeÌcile Chaminade (1857-1944) was born in Paris and began studying piano at an early age with her mother, she later studied violin and composition privately and became hugely popular in France, the UK and USA. She was the first female composer to receive the LeÌgion d’Honneur and often performed for Queen Victoria at Windsor Castle. Her US debut was with the Philadelphia Orchestra in 1908 where she performed her own Concertstück op. 40 for piano and orchestra. Despite the fact that most of her 400+ works were published during her lifetime her music fell into obscurity after her death; though in recent years there has been much renewed interest.EÌglogue was first published by Enoch & Cie, Paris in a collection of twelve short pieces called Album des Enfants vol. 2, op. 126 and many of the works in both volumes 1 and 2 are on the syllabuses of the major music examination boards.
