One of a number of songs written by Fanny Mendelssohn (Felix's sister) and often mis-attributed to Felix.  (Fanny's family were supportive of her musical efforts as long as she kept them private - getting recognition as a composer in her own right proved a major challenge.)

Although Fanny was fully at home writing full orchestral works in the Romantic style, she also produced cheerful little songs for voice and piano such as this, which is suitable for intermediate / school-age players.

This version is arranged for Clarinet Quartet of three Bb clarinets and one Bass clarinet.

Clara Schumann's song Lov'st thou for beauty (Liebst du um Schonheit) arranged for 4 clarinets - three Bb and one Bass.

One of the best known pianists of her time, Clara was also an accomplished composer.  This sweet little song from the early Romantic period shows Clara writing in a more parlour song style, as opposed to her more virtuoso solo piano pieces.
