I transcribed Nelson Riddle arrangement on soundtrack by ear.  I transposed it to an easy key for young ensembles and added to the celeste figuration.  The second half is entirely original- a 60's swing style groove.  I tacked on a Peter Gunn influenced finale.  It was put together to honor Henry Mancini's centennial.  The audience loved it.Here's the youtube link to the April 18th performance by tge younger orchestra at Stuyvesant High School where I conduct the orchestra.

Published by PJMS MUSIC (A0.798382). Sinatra first recorded The Christmas Waltz with a chorus with an arrangement by Nelson Riddle on August 23, 1954. In 1957, Gordon Jenkins took over the arranging, and The Ralph Brewster Singers provided backing vocal on the recording for A Jolly Christmas from Frank Sinatra. In 1968, Riddle again provided arrangements, but it was The Jimmy Joyce Singers who lent their voices to the recording for The Sinatra Family Wish You a Merry Christmas.This arrangement for SATB with orchestra includes a key change to provide a brief instrumental break with the chorus rejoining on the second 8 bars with Ahhs and then back to the lyric. It makes a great opening number for any Holiday concert.

This swinging TTBB arrangement is partly based on the iconic Phil Spector version, but also includes many 1950s Nelson Riddle jazz inflections. Fun and bombastic, it has a spectacular choral close, and features a long dance break, where tap would be appropriate. A good act opener or closer.

My One and Only Love, this song was written in 1952 and published in 1953 by Sherwin Music composer Guy Wood and lyricist Robert Mellin. When Frank Sinatra recorded it in 1953 with Nelson Riddle, first released as B-side to his hit single I've Got the World on a String, it became popular. This version features a root-based chord-blocking technique that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. We also added a few left-hand fills to add a little color to the song. We hope you like it!

This arrangement stays pretty close to the original, but with a slightly different chordal accompaniment that gives it a cool groove.  It is written for SSA,  is a fun and very accesible song to sing, with a great empowerment message for especially women.

This song was introduced by Irene Dunne in the 1937 film High, Wide, and Handsome and was recorded that year by Bing Crosby.   Guy Lombardo enjoyed chart success with the song in 1937.  It has become particularly associated with Peggy Lee, who sang it on her 1957 album The Man I Love. Lee's version was arranged by Nelson Riddle and conducted by Frank Sinatra.

This song extolling the joy and privilege of worship was inspired by the grace-filled ministry of Dr. Jesse Middendorf, pastor of Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene 1990-2001 before becoming a General Superintendent in the denomination. I wrote it in a slow jazz style with rhythm section and string orchestra accompaniment, somewhat reminiscent of Linda Ronstadt's epic collaboration with Nelson Riddle and his orchestra.

It was introduced by Walter Catlett in the Broadway musical Lady, Be Good! written by Guy Bolton, Fred Thompson, and the Gershwin brothers and starring Fred and Adele Astaire. The song was also performed by the chorus in the film Lady Be Good (1941), although the film is unrelated to the musical.A 1947 recording of the song became a hit for Ella Fitzgerald, notable for her scat solo. For her album Ella Fitzgerald Sings the George and Ira Gershwin Songbook (1959), it was sung as a ballad arranged by Nelson Riddle.
