Take Me Back to Dear Old Blighty is a music hall song written by Arthur J. Mills, Fred Godfrey and Bennett Scott in 1916. It was popular during the First World War and tells a story of three fictional soldiers on the Western Front suffering from homesickness and their longing to return to Blighty - a slang term for Britain.
Fred Godfrey wrote the song with Bennett Scott and A.J. Mills after passing a music hall in Oxford where a show called Blighty was showing. He recounts: One of us suddenly said What an idea for a song! Four hours later it was all finished, and the whole country was singing it soon afterwards. I got - not very much.

Song Description 
　This is a jazz fusion classic from Chick Corea's 1972 Return To Forever album, Light As A Feather, with lyrics by Al himself. 
　The synthesizer solo was played by Larry Williams, a keyboardist and saxophonist of the fusion band Seawind, who skillfully used upper structure triad arpeggios to drive the song in a wide range. 
　Al's scat solo in the latter half of the song is a highlight. It starts with a relaxed phrase, moving in a close range in the first half, and shows a sign of excitement with flutter tangling in D (a technique unique to wind instruments that makes the sound tremble by fine movements of the tongue) at the beginning of the second half. The last four bars of the song are a perfect blend of alternating scales and blue notes, folding in exquisite ups and downs, and finally resolving to B major at the end. 
　In the chord progression, the second half of [B] and Gmaj7 (two beats after Dmaj7) in [E] and [M] are not Chick Corea's original, but he seems to use them in this arrangement.

We the People of the United States lets singers and instrumentalists sing and play their hearts out. This piece features three sections:

I. We the People of the United States

This first section is a dignified presentation of the Preamble to the Constitution.

II. Amendment I

The second section is the First Amendment to the Constitution. It begins playfully and festively, reflecting the joyful intent of enacting and living by the Constitution's First Amendment freedoms. The section becomes somber and contemplative, though, suggesting the struggles, pain and sacrifices we've endured, and are still enduring, as we continue to interpret this amendment and live by its words. The section's end recalls the joyful, pleasant aspects of living by the First Amendment.

III. The Gettysburg Address

The text of the first and second sections is the cornerstone of how we live and the values we profess. This third section, the first paragraph of Abraham Lincoln's stirring speech, reminds us of our hopes for our country and way of life.

Audiences will be standing and cheering at this work's moving finish. The enduring truths of the text, our reverence for these words, and our vigorous aspirations to interpret them make this stirring piece an everlasting program choice and a delight for performers and audiences.

Escapade in Swing is a Grade 4 concert band piece with a duration of about 3:45. Jazz swing style began in the United States in the 1930s. It was America's favorite popular music form from about 1935 to 1945. This piece is a tribute to that style. Escapade in Swing begins in a moderate, laid-back feel with an ample sprinkling of cool. The piece then changes to a much faster Lively, Driving Swing tempo. A four-measure transition separates the coolness of the first part from the heat of the second part.

The second part includes 2-measure written solos for clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, and euphonium. Some of these solos are cued in other instruments. Directors can use discretion in assigning the solos: Solo passages can be played as written or ad-libbed, and each written solo can be assigned as a section soli.

Escapade in Swing provides ample opportunities to teach lessons in jazz style, jazz notation and techniques, maintaining a steady tempo, intonation, soli and ensemble playing, and improvisation. Be sure to begin and maintain (don't rush!) the initial tempo of M.M.=108. Establishing this tempo best ensures pleasing contrast with the faster section, beginning at measure 32.

This exciting piece makes an excellent concert closer, and it will be well-received by toe-tapping players and by toetapping audiences.
