The choir parts are not difficult to learn. A strong Broadway-style soloist is needed (preferably an alto or tenor) to sell the song, delivering a message of resilience and triumph in the face of racism. Although the musical is set in the 1950s, the theme is highly relevant today in the climate of Black Lives Matter. To add to the style of the piece, bass guitar and drums are recommended (easy to ad lib from the score).
