SKU: S9.Q49375

Composed by Friedrich Kuhlau. This edition: Sheet music. Friedrich kuhlau - piano - sonatinas. Schott Student Edition - Repertoire. Downloadable. Op. 88/3. Schott Music - Digital #Q49375. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q49375).

Key: A minor. German • English • French.

These real masterpieces, even if only a few minutes long, are of tremendous melodiousness and expressiveness!, Franz Schubert said about Friedrich Kuhlau's sonatinas. The four Sonatinas Op. 88 were written in 1827, i. e. during Friedrich Kuhlau's middle creative period, even before the great success of the opera Elfenhügel, the year of Beethoven's death. All four works contain beautiful melodic ideas, but Sonatina Op. 88 No. 3 with its minor tonality, its free treatment of form and tempo in the first movement and the lively last movement is something special. Of medium difficulty, this sonatina is great fun to play. This edition is accompanied by a preface and Teaching Notes by Monika Twelsiek. It is part of the new Schott Student Edition series which offers varied literature at five different levels of difficulty, from 1 (easy) to 5 (difficult), for instrumental lessons. For further information on this series, see www.schott-student-edition.com [1]. Links: ------ [1] http://www.schott-student-edition.com.

About Schott Student Edition

The Schott Student Edition gathers instrumental works for music lessons providing a unique and varied repertoire resource including standard teaching works, lesser known pieces which are perfectly suited to lessons as well as to student concerts and competitions.

The repertoire is divided into levels 1-5, from very easy to difficult, and includes works from the Renaissance up to modern performance pieces. Each title is graded, from very easy works for beginners up to demanding pieces for more advanced students who are preparing for further study or examinations.

Every work in the series has been carefully selected and edited by experienced music teachers. The editions also contain a wealth of information on the pieces as well as useful advice on studying, rehearsing and interpreting the works. The first titles to be published in the Schott Student Edition series contain works for violin, violoncello, flute, clarinet and recorder. Further editions are in preparation.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Trio Bass Clarinet,Bassoon,English Horn,Flute,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1168625

Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Classical. 19 pages. RayThompsonMusic #768963. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1168625).

Arranged woodind trio (playable as double reed trio, clarinet trio or mixed trio)

  • Part 1 oboe (flute) / clarinet
  • Part 2 clarinet / cor anglais
  • Part 3 bassoon / bass clarinet
The Six Viennese Sonatinas were not originally composed by Mozart for the piano. They are a contemporary arrangement of movements from the Five Wind Divertimentos for 3 basset horns, K. 439b which Mozart wrote in 1783.

The Divertimentos are notable for their conciseness of form and their melodic richness. Each divertimento has 5 mvts.
They therefore make an excellent introduction to Mozart's piano music, even though they are not completely typical of Mozart's piano writing. We do not know for certain who made the arrangement, but Alexander Weinmann has shown that it was probably Ferdinand Kauer. The order of movements is not the same as in the original; moreover, some of the Trios have been exchanged and recapitulations have been shortened in some instances.

Thry are in varying keys, unlike the original divertimenti, so my arrangements reflect thus.

This is my arrangement for  mixed wind trio of Sonatina No.4 in Bb major.

There are 3 movements:
  • Andante grazioso
  • Menuetto and Trio
  • Rondo

SKU: A0.588916

Composed by David McKeown. Concert,Latin,Standards,World. Score and parts. 7 pages. David McKeown #5755297. Published by David McKeown (A0.588916).

Joropo de Justina is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Oboe and one Cor Anglais or English Horn.

This duet is based on the traditional Latin style of Joropo which is the national and traditional music of Venezuela. The music and its accompanying dance comes from the central plains area and is also found over the border in parts of Colombia. The basic pulse of the Joropo is 3, but this is overlaid with complex cross-rhythms. The main instrument is the harp, along with cuatro and maracas as the only percussion instrument. In the modern era other instruments may join the ensemble, especially bass. This arrangement represents the song style of Joropo, with the vocal alternating with instrumental breaks.

If you play to an advanced intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. The many cross rhythms will provide a rhythmic challenge and there is little time to catch breath; following the articulation in the score will help convey the style. Joropo de Justina has a performance time of around two minutes at full tempo. You can listen to a full performance the Clarinet version of this duet by following the YouTube link above.

SKU: S9.Q578097

(originally for piano in G major, F major). Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Andreas Gruen and Frank Michael. Chamber Music. Downloadable. Musikverlag Zimmermann - Digital #Q578097. Published by Musikverlag Zimmermann - Digital (S9.Q578097).

German • English • French.

There are still doubts about whether or not the two sonatinas (originally meant for piano in G major and F major) are genuine. Due to their low level of difficulty, they are part of the standard repertoire of every piano student, and it was their popularity which brought about the arrangement presented here, mainly based on the original text.

SKU: A0.913624

Composed by James Marshall. Contemporary,Folk. Score and parts. 87 pages. James Marshall Music #6096869. Published by James Marshall Music (A0.913624).

English Autumn  was composed in Fall/Winter 2018-2019 for Clarinetist Allison Eales commissioned by the Gregynog . Scored for Clarinet in A and String Trio it reflects the collage of Autumn colors:  Green, Yellow, Brown shades of first Autumn; Red, Orange of Autumn at its peak. It followed my English Sonatina for young clarinetists premiered by Alison Eales and Anna de Hair in London in January, 2019, and was premiered in London in October, 2019.

This piece reflects the heightened emotions of fiery intensity reflected in the changing of the colors of the leaves in Autumn. Reflected as well is the serene beauty before the Autumn arrives, and the resignation of the eternal cycles of nature. The opening section (Andante) evokes the feeling of nostalgia and assurance of the inevitable cycle of nature. We know the life will go from the tress only to return again next season. We feel the joy of the intense colors of the foliage, and the sadness of the loss of life in winter.

This section segues into Green (Adagio cantabile) with pastoral music and quotes of The Water is Wide and I pass all the hours in a shady grove of Pelham Humphrey. This leads into Red (Allegro con fuoco/Presto), followed by Orange (Declamando) as well as absence of color when the leaves all fall.

I pass all the hours is a song by Pelham Humphrey with words by Charles II: I pass all the hours in a shady grove …When I see the print of her shape in the green…I think there’s no hell like loving too well, The melody is incorporated because it is the same melodic motif of the Scherzando movement of my English Sonatina for young clarinetists which Alison Eales and Anna de Hair premiered. I discovered it after composing that piece in researching
English folk songs to refer to in this piece. It is an ideal segue into the Allegro con fuco/Presto
music.

The final section (Andante cantabile) is my personal melodic sequence from the rising motif
of Over the hills and far away.
