After early studies with his father, the organist Charles Blanchet (18331900), and then with his mother, Marie Schnyder, an excellent pianist, Blanchet attended the Cologne Conservatory from the age of 18, where his teachers included Gustave Jensen for harmony and counterpoint, Friedrich Wilhelm Frankel and Seiss. In 1898 he left Cologne for Berlin, and subsequently Weimar, to study with Busoni, whose influence was to prove pivotal to Blanchet's future development. At 25 he made his dbut with the Berlin PO, after which he appeared throughout Germany and elsewhere, including a tour of Switzerland as accompanist to the violinist Henri Gerber. In 1905 he became director of the Lausanne Conservatoire, a position he relinquished in 1908 in order to concentrate more on teaching and composition. In 1909 he was awarded first prize for his Tema con variazioni for piano op.13 in a competition in Berlin. As a pianist, Blanchet's virtuoso technique was well suited to his chosen repertory, which was based primarily on the works of Beethoven, Liszt, Brahms and especially Chopin, in addition to those of Debussy, Ravel and Louis Vierne. His playing was particularly admired for its power and control and for the variety of colour and nuance he was able to achieve through a subtle pedal technique.

Piano,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1354331 Composed by Lucijan M.Škerjanc. Arranged by Zellev. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Opera,Romantic Period. 15 pages. Zellev Music #939049. Published by Zellev Music (A0.1354331). Key Signature: B minorTime Signature: 3/4Tempo: Allegro pateticoDifficulty: AdvancedLucijan Škerjanc (1900-1973) was a Slovenian Composer.Škerjanc is one of the most important older composers of contemporary Slovene music and is one of the key Slovene musical personalities of the 20th century. He graduated in Ljubljana and studied music in Prague, Vienna (Joseph Marx), Paris (Schola cantorum) and Basel (Felix Weingartner). He spent many years teaching composition at the Ljubljana Academy of Music, teaching composers such as Nada Ludvig-Pečar, Zvonimir Ciglič and Janez Matičič whilst serving as a chancellor for a period and was a pianist, conductor, music writer, and director of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra based in the country's capital. His style reflected late romanticism with qualities of expressionism and impressionism in his pieces, often with a hyperbolic artistic temperament, juxtaposing the dark against melodic phrases in his music.Škerjanc was liberal in his attitude to music and multifaceted in his works. Whilst musically diverse, his opus centred on composition, varying from piano miniatures and solos for beginners, and solo and chamber works to full blown concertos and symphonies. Apart from sonatas, he notably composed a cycle of seven nocturnes, which many consider his greatest piano oriented work, and seven orchestral pieces Gazele (Ghazels). He not only composed for the piano but also the violin, the clarinet and the bassoon in 1952. During his life he also wrote for international composers and composed the film scores for a number of films under Yugoslavia.

His name is sometimes seen as Artsibushev, Artsybuchev, Artzibushev, Artzybushev, Artchibousheff, Arcybusev, etc.Artsybushev was born at Tsarskoye Selo in 1858. His legal studies were at the Imperial School of Jurisprudence in Saint Petersburg, after which he practised in St Petersburg as an attorney. He also dabbled in music composition, and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov gave him private lessons in music theory after Mily Balakirev said his works showed some promise. He also became acquainted with the music publisher Mitrofan Belyayev and participated in his regular weekly gatherings called Fridays (Vendredis). To mark these occasions, a group of 10 composers including Artsybushev collaborated on a 16-part suite for string quartet, called Les Vendredis. His contribution was a Serenade in A major. He also collaborated with others on Variations on a Russian Theme, in versions for both string quartet and orchestra. He was a member of the St Petersburg City Council. After Belyayev's death in 1903 he became chairman of the board of the Belyayev publishing house, in which capacity he had significant dealings with Alexander Scriabin. Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1201265 Composed by Valery Aralov. Arranged by Yury Chugunov and Zellev. 20th Century,Blues,Broadway,Jazz,Musical/Show,Video Game. Score. 6 pages. Zellev Music #799915. Published by Zellev Music (A0.1201265). Key Signature: NaturalTime Signature: 3/4Tempo: Con moto (with movement (as lively as possible/ vivace))Difficulty: Advancednot much known about the composer, the piece originally comes from jazz compilation by Yury Chugunov.from the excerpt: The publication is dedicated to the waltz - not quite an ordinary genre in jazz, where the quadruple meter reigned supreme. The waltz was established in many respects thanks to the creativity in the fifty of the musicians kula (the so-called cool jazz - cool jazz). Interest in the waltz was shown by several major musicians of this direction, such as Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Dave Brubeck. One of the first waltz themes to penetrate jazz was Frank Churchill's most popular melody from the movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Soon waltzes written by jazz musicians began to appear. The jazz waltz represents the lyrical side of jazz along with the jazz ballad and bossa nova. The collection includes works by Soviet and foreign authors. The latter are represented by the names of R. Rogers, B. Evans, D. Brubeck, P. Desmond with his famous Take Five waltz and others. Dave Brubeck (in whose ensemble alto saxophonist Paul Desmond played) was perhaps the first to experiment with five-, six-, seven-quarter time signatures, widely using variable time signatures, polyrhythm; a typical example of a waltz of variable size belongs to the young Moscow pianist Daniil Kramer (Caprice). Recall, by the way, that an example of a five-quarter waltz in symphonic music is found in Tchaikovsky (second movement of the Sixth Symphony). We hope that the collection will be of interest not only to jazz musicians, but also to a wider circle of music lovers.-Yuri Chugunov.
