Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1349167

Composed by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. Arranged by Catherine Wilson. 20th Century,Broadway,Children,Film/TV,Instructional,Musical/Show. Score. 5 pages. Catherine Wilson #933907. Published by Catherine Wilson (A0.1349167).

Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid is part of a series of Disney piano solo arrangements for late beginner / grade 1.

Everyone can benefit by learning pieces they recognise, but in the early stages of learning, this can sometimes prove to be a challenge too far.

If the piece is too far outside the ability level of the student, frustration and self-doubt can creep in.

The arrangements in this series concentrate on building connections between how the music looks, how it feels, and what it sounds like.

To simplify learning, the arrangements are notated at half speed (where needed), do not require any use of sharps or flats, and are harmonised using a 5 - note hand position in the left hand.

Short introductions have been added to highlight the hand position changes used in the song.  These give students the opportunity to build their confidence by navigating the changes of hand positions before encountering them in the recognisable part of the song.

Catherine lives in a small rural village in Shropshire, England and has over 25 years experience teaching piano. Since completing her Master’s Degree, specialising in composition, Catherine enjoys arranging existing melodies with pianistic accompaniments that focus on furthering technique as well as providing an opportunity to enjoy performing recognisable pieces.

Lever Harp - Level 4 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1415294

Composed by Zbigniew Antoni Preisner. Arranged by Rachael Acheson. 20th Century,Broadway,Children,Film/TV,Musical/Show. Score. 4 pages. TheHarpLibrarian #997026. Published by TheHarpLibrarian (A0.1415294).

This recognizable theme from the 1993 film adaptation of The Secret Garden appears in several different tracks from the score, but most notably in Leaving the Docks and Showing Dickon Garden.

I arranged the piece specifically for my 26-string Fullsicle Harpsicle harp, and it should fit on other small harp models with a similar range. But you can, of course, also play it on larger harp models (either lever or pedal), as well.

Because the original version was a piano solo, I had to re-organize some of the left-hand chord structures to get it to fit the range of my small harp. But, even with this adaptation, I was able to keep it in the original key (two sharps, so D Major), meaning that owners of Sharpsicle Harpsicle models, and some Roosebeck Pakistani harps, should be able to play this piece, as well as Fullsicle Harpsicle model owners.

There are no lever changes or extended techniques, but, at full-speed, the piece can prove much more challenging than it looks at first glance. In particular, I recommend practicing that quick, repetitive Alberti bass in the left-hand with a loose, exagerated oscillation movement to prevent tightness or injury. Also be wary of starting out at a speed that you can't maintain throughout the entirety of the performance. Meteronomes are your friend.

Please note that the preview cuts off after the first half-page of score. When you download your purchase, you will recieve a pdf that contains both the preview and the full score.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 5 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.767578

Composed by Mike Lyons. Contemporary. Score and parts. 81 pages. Lyons Music Services #6422239. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767578).

These three pieces form a small suite, linked by the idea of ‘pastoral’ or rustic situations and places.

The first piece to be written now forms the middle movement, though at first it was the starting point.

This is not easy music. It travels through several keys with large numbers of sharps and flats and in places the time signature shifts constantly. The first movement is modal, being based on the mixolydian and dorian modes. I took for this movement the idea of ancient Celts celebrating a victory and dancing and getting drunk around a smoky fire. Their chieftain strikes up a song, accompanied by a double drone.

This melody is initially stated on the horn, with just two other instruments providing the accompaniment. At 4 before B, the remaining instruments join in, providing a rhythmic pulse and the melody moves to the Euphonium/Baritone/Trombone. Subtle variations shape the melody anew, leading to letter C. Here the complex overlapping rhythms provide a more dance-like feel to the music. Also, countermelodies start to appear which build the excitement.

At letter E, the music becomes louder and the rhythmic pulse more insistent (perhaps they are dancing on the tables?) The mode changes to the more major sounding mixolydian. But from here on in, the revellers are starting to wend their way home, still singing and dancing and they gradually fade into the distance. At letter G, we’re back to three players, but with the trumpet 1 playing a rhythmic melody over the top of the original tune.

The second movement is called The Aesthetes.

The aesthetic movement was formed in the 19th century, but had been around before that in less formal garb. Their ideal was to emulate the Ancient Greeks and Romans – or at least their perception of what the ancients were like as found in statues, paintings and friezes. They adopted studied poses and were very effete in their mannerisms. Gilbert and Sullivan parodied the aesthetic movement in their operettas – particularly Princess Ida (but also in the Mikado and various others).

So, here is a movement with classical lines in the style of a minuet, but in 6/8 rather than ¾ so that it can be more languid. All the melodies are ‘studied’ and ‘formal’ with long, languid notes and rhythms which don’t quite fit to the beat as the aesthetes pose and ponder and languidly look, studied and pale and wan.

Because of the long notes in the melody, there’s an almost dream-like quality to the music as if they are seeing through a haze of Wormwood or Absinthe (a favourite drink of the aesthetes when they weren’t high on themselves or opiates).

The third and final movement is called The Bohemians. This was also a movement at the end of the 19th Century. Where the aesthetes were ruled by rules, the Bohemians lived by none. They were considered wild and unconventional to say the least.

The Bohemians movement owed much to the supposed free life and style of the gypsies and wanderers of Europe. Our piece starts with a gypsy violin style opening, including a cadenza, and then moves into the rapidly time shifting and gyrating gypsy dance.

This section is in alternating bars of 5/8 and 6/8 with occasional 11/8 thrown in to keep you off balance. The frantic and frenetic movement continues up to letter F where things calm down a little – but not for long as the intensity increases again from Letter H to the quite sudden ending.

This is tuneful yet challenging music which will take a lot of effort, but which will give a lot back in return.

SKU: A0.565897

By Sharon Wilson. By George Strattner. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Easter,Instructional,Praise & Worship,Sacred,Standards. Score and individual part. 5 pages. Sharon Wilson #6508649. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565897).

Here is an easy instrumental duet arrangement (for BOWED PSALTERY solo with PIANO accompaniment) of the familiar hymn Father, Lead Me Day by Day by George C. Strattner with lyrics by John P. Hopps. The psaltery part was designed for a beginning psaltery player and is presented in the key of C major with no sharps or flats. The piano accompaniment is at the early-intermediate level.

To assist those new to reading music notation, two solo parts are included: one is the standard music notation and includes the lyrics for sing along enjoyment. The second solo part is identical to the standard music but instead of lyrics, the note names are provided below each note (example A, B, C…).

The PSALTERY plays the melody throughout. An optional repeat is included in case a longer song is desired. A piano accompaniment and/or rehearsal track (MP3 format) is available for this arrangement as a separate purchase: Father, Lead Me Day by Day (Piano Accompaniment Track for Easy Bowed Psaltery Solo).

The range of a typical soprano psaltery is two octaves beginning with the G above middle C (G4). However, since some psalteries have fewer than 25 strings, the range for this song is only 1 octave. Also, the notes are written an octave lower on the staff so they are easier to read and learn for beginner musicians. The notated range for this song is C4 (middle C) to C5 (one octave above middle C).

The purchase price includes a combined score (grand staff, 3-stave) with both parts (PSALTERY and PIANO) on each page, plus 2 options for the 1-staff solo part (one with lyrics, one with alphabetic note names). The solo part could also be played by other instruments with the same range such as a violin, recorder, or any instrument with as little as an 8-note diatonic scale range.

Composed by Regina Pratley. Instructional. Score. 30 pages. Regina Collier #6489689. Published by Regina Collier (A0.934564).

This book is written for students who are in grade 1 to grade 3.
The exercises in this book start from easy ones like single-hand exercises and exercises in 5-finger positions to normal and more difficult both-hands exercises. The aim of this book is to train students’ ability to read the score of a particular key signature precisely. As learning a new key signature needs time, the exercises in this book give students more than enough chances to familiarize themselves with a particular key signature.
The exercises in this book are mostly short so that students can play them with ease and have stronger feeling of success. When they can read the score more fluently, they will be more confident and interested to play more.
Enjoy the process and your abilities will be strengthened!

Easy intermediate harp arrangement of Concerning Hobbits from Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings by Howard Shore. This arrangement sets the G# and the A# in a higher octave, and therefore has NO LEVER CHANGES.  It features single left-hand notes, and a simple (mostly) single note melody in the right hand.  If your harp does not have levers or pedals, you can tune your higher octave G and A to cover the 2 measures that have those sharps in them.  Very playable on a lever harp, or a small harp without levers. Can also be played on a pedal harp.  Can be easily adapted to include other instruments such as a violin, cello, or flute, or piano.  Also includes the chord names above each measure.

Small Ensemble Bells,Handbell,Handchime,Piano Accompaniment - Level 2 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.565864

By Sharon Wilson. By Various. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Children,Easter,Holiday,Instructional,Sacred. Score and parts. 94 pages. Sharon Wilson #6285355. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565864).

The title of this collection was inspired by the words found in Ephesians 5:19 (KJV) -- Speaking…in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord…

This collection contains 10 hymns arranged for a one octave, 13-note chromatic scale Handbell choir with Piano accompaniment. For each song, the Piano provides an introduction then the Handbells play the melody and occasional 2-part harmony. Most songs include an optional repeat and second ending in case a longer song is desired.

For each song, there is a combined score with both instruments (Handbells and Piano) on a grand staff plus two separate scores for the Handbells (one in standard format with black and white notes and the second with color-coded notes). The color-coded scores are enlarged so the colors are easier to distinguish and all sharps and flats are displayed (shown in the key of C) as reminders for beginning ringers.

A color-coded note chart is also provided for each song which shows the Handbell notes used as well as the number of times each note is played. The note distribution is helpful when assigning notes to ringers. You may want to assign fewer notes to beginners or evenly distribute the bells between all ringers.

As noted above, one of the Handbell scores for each song is color-coded for easier note reading for beginning ringers. These separate color-coded scores use the Chroma-Notesâ„¢ Colored Music System. If you have a set of Handbells with a different color scheme, Chroma-Notes Stick Ons can be purchased and applied so the Handbells match this color scheme.

The number of ringers needed will vary depending on the skill level of the participants. For more advanced players, each person could be assigned two or three notes. For beginners, it is best to assign one or two notes to each person. Note assignment suggestions are included for each song and range from 4 to 9 ringers.

These familiar hymns are perfect for small groups and especially beginning ringers. Most songs can be performed with as few as 5 people (4 ringers and 1 piano player). The Piano accompaniment is written for an intermediate player.

Permission is granted to make up to 10 copies of each score. For more than 10 copies, please purchase additional sets.

Each song is also available separately with accompanying preview pages and audio samples.

Lever Harp - Level 1 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1468124

Composed by Rachael Acheson. Celtic,Irish,Medieval,New Age,Renaissance,Video Game. Score. 3 pages. TheHarpLibrarian #1046434. Published by TheHarpLibrarian (A0.1468124).

This is an original composition for small or beginner harp. I wrote it on a 26-string lap harp, but the range (from the C below middle C to the C above middle C) would fit a harp as small as 22 strings. It is written in A minor, with no sharps, flats, or other lever changes. As such, this piece should be playable on pretty much any standard small or lap harp, regardless of whether it has levers.

Suggested harp models include Harpsicle Harps, Dusty Strings Ravenna 26, Musicmakers Sonnet 29, Fireside Harps, Marini Made lap harp models, Roosebeck Pakistani harps, Heartland Harps Air Serenity, Harp-E harps, and so on.

The piece was composed to cheer up a fellow harpist who is still at the beginning of their harp journey. It is meant to invoke a medieval castle, and, as such, could be the perfect piece to take to a renaissance fair, an outdoor wedding, a larp-ing event, or perhaps on vacation with you, if you plan on touring any old castles with your small/lap harp in tow and trying out the acoustics.

The song is appropriate for beginner harpists. You may need to practice replacing in a few places to avoid buzzing. But the piece only ever requires you to place in one direction at a time and minimizes the amount of time both hands play simultaneously. You can play it slower than I do in the recording, if you choose, and it should still sound nice.

Please note that the preview cuts off after the first few measures of score. When you download your purchase, you will recieve a pdf that contains both the preview and the full score.
