These 2 lullabies have been transcribed on request of my student Kate after her grand daughter had been born.
She wished to play her cello for the baby who seems to like music.
the selection is:
No 1) Melodie by Robert Schumann from Kinderszenen op 68 No 1
No 2) Brahms Wiegenlied op 49 No 4
Both lullabies sound well for cello solo, but a second cello part is added to enjoy among cellists!
For Schumann's Melodie the original piano score can also be played as an accompaniment.
As for the Brahms, the piano accompaniment can be used if written for a singing part in D major, starting on the (melody) note f#.

after comparing the 4 surviving manuscripts and early prints in detail.
Special attention is given to the 2 early scripts, which copied from Bach's original, the difficult to read copy bu Kellner and Anna Magdalena's copy.
A continue part has been added, developed by accompanying students for the pure joy of playing together.
The accompaniment is dedicated to Robert Schumann, who added for the same reason an accompaniment to Cello Suite No 1, but unfortunately only some sketches hav survived. The more elaborate parts to the whole Suite have unfortunately been lost. I thank Schumann for his idea to dare the step just to add an accompaniment for the pure joy of playing these wonderful movements with friends together.

At first described as a 'religious song' by Schumann, the motet 'Verzweifle nicht' could be heard with organ accompaniment for the first time on 4 July 1850 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the University's St. Pauli choral society in Leipzig. He wrote the organ version specifically for this performance for he had originally planned an orchestral accompaniment. That, however, could only be completed later and was eventually premiered in 1853. In a letter to Schumann, Herrmann Langer, the conductor of both world premieres, mentioned 'the wonderful effect which the same has produced' and that, to him, 'the motet was one of the most stimulating and inspiring creations in male-voice literature'.
