By O.C. Smith. By Bobby Russell. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Country,Film/TV,Pop,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. Score. 5 pages. Timothy Stapay #997124. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1415388).

Here is a timeless country classic arranged for piano solo.  A song the whole family will love to sing.

Little Green Apples is a classic country song that was recorded by Glen Campbell in 1968.

It was written by Bobby Russell and became a major hit, reaching the top 40 charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom. The song’s popularity has endured over the years, and it remains a beloved classic in the country music genre.

Bobby Gentry sang this song in a wonderful duet with Glenn on his T.V. show.

[Verse 1]
Well, I wake up in the mornin' with my hair down in my eyes
And she says, Hi
And I hurry to the breakfast table while the kids are goin' off to school, Goodbye
And she reaches out and takes my hand
And squeezes it and says, How you feelin', Hon?
And I look across at smilin' lips that warms my heart
And I see my mornin' sun

[Pre-Chorus]
And if that's not lovin' me
Then all I've got to say

[Chorus]
God didn't make the little green apples
And it don't rain in Indianapolis in the summertime
There's no such thing as Dr. Suess
Disneyland and Mother Goose, no nursery rhyme
God didn't make the little green apples
And it don't rain in Indianapolis in the summertime
And when my self is feelin' low
I think about your face aglow and ease my mind

[Verse 2]
Sometimes I call him up knowin' he's busy
And ask if he could get away and meet me
Maybe grab a bite to eat
And he drops what he's doin' and hurries down to meet me
And I'm always late
He sits waitin' patiently and smiles when he first sees me
'Cause he's made that way

[Pre-Chorus]
And if that's not lovin' me
Then all I've got to say

[Chorus]
God didn't make the little green apples
And it don't snow in Indianapolis when the winter come
There's no such thing as make-believe
Puppy dogs and autumn leaves, no BB gun
God didn't make the little green apples
And it don't rain in Indianapolis in the summertime
And when my self is feelin' low
I think about your face aglow and ease my mind

By O.C. Smith. By Bobby Russell. Arranged by Dave Gingras and John E. Dosher. Country,Pop,Rock. Score. 5 pages. DAVID LEE GINGRAS #1032888. Published by DAVID LEE GINGRAS (A0.1453674).

Little Green Apples is a song written by Bobby Russell that became a hit for three different artists, with their three separate releases, in 1968. Originally written for and released by American recording artist Roger Miller, Little Green Apples was also released as a single by American recording artists Patti Page and O. C. Smith that same year. Smith's version became a #2 hit on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Hot Rhythm & Blues Singles charts, while Miller's version became a Top 40 hit. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. We also added some pretty cool left-hand fills for your listening (playing?) pleasure - we hope you like what we've done to make this arrangement unique!

By Neil Diamond. By Bob Russell and Bobby Scott. Arranged by Kevin P Holdgate. Pop. Score and part. 8 pages. Kevin P Holdgate #5771827. Published by Kevin P Holdgate (A0.791239).

KPHMS 'Solo' Collection

He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother is a ballad written by Bobby Scott and Bob Russell. Originally recorded by Kelly Gordon in 1969, the song became a worldwide hit for The Hollies later that year and a minor hit for Neil Diamond in 1970. It has been recorded by many artists in subsequent years.

Scott and Russell were introduced to each other by Johnny Mercer, at a California nightclub. Although Russell was dying of lymphoma and the pair met only three times, they managed to collaborate on the song.

This is an arrangement as a solo with piano accompaniment that I would judge to be around Grade 5/6 standard for most instruments.
