The 2nd movement is a tango that veers on the verge of falling apart at any moment. The last movement represents chaos and how it inevitably always ends.

This piece is a representation of my day and mental state on 1/26/2023The first part is Debussyesque which becomes swallowed by the upcoming dissonance and is catapulted into the unrelenting second part. The 2nd part is a chaotic and charges firmly into death. The last part is the black abyss that one tries to combat, and ultimately losses to. It engulfs every thought and action and while it may rescind for a while, it never goes away.

Instead it is ice cold as one stands over a polar plateau alone.II - A parody of Palladio. This movement isn't playful. It has a crass and strident force that drives it forward throughout. There is no melody to be found here.III - This movement is about pain and agony. There is only grey and all other colors have gone away and disappeared. What sense of progress is lost, and we find ourselves looking for anything to latch onto to. Do we truly find it though?

This sonata for violin and piano is one of my larger works. I wrote it for a friend who now studies at San Francisco Conservatory. It is very much in the 20th century style yet fear not for it is still tuneful and cyclical. It has four movements with three of them being based of the opening notes in the violin.
