Small Ensemble Alto Recorder,Baritone Recorder,Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.842538 Composed by Various (Collection). Arranged by B. Brennan. Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 24 pages. Bl_music #5290011. Published by bl_music (A0.842538). Calisthenics for Treble/Alto Recorder 15 Solo-Etudes, Gallops, Polkas, Variations (notation: treble clef) 15 entertaining solo-etudes: Rondos, Polkas, Gallops, Variations….. all suitable for intermediate to advanced students as well as professionals; as exercises for the fingers, just for the fun of it or as (shorter) concert /contest pieces or encores. What are Calisthenics? You’ve all come across them in one form or another….mainly probably in caricatures of Victorian or Edwardian men in boldly striped sportswear lifting heavy weights or Victorian ladies elegantly waving their arms around(see photo) We found the idea of daily exercises in combination with utterly lovely tunes so intriguing that we decided to call our latest publication Calisthenics The music combines training of speed, thumb technique, interpretation. Short: another great fun and educational publication. The word calisthenics is derived from the Greek, kalos, beautiful; and sthenos, strength; the object of calisthenic exercises being to secure physical beauty by developing the limbs and muscles of the human frame, and making the joints flexible, thereby giving strength and power, and ensuring a graceful carriage, erect bearing, and freedom to the figure. In the words of the old Victorians: The highest refinement of that beauty is unattainable without splendour of activity and delicate strength. Exercise is now recognised to be as great a necessity in woman's education as in man's we are learning that many bodily defects and much of her weak health is attributable to the want of it; more especially in youth, when the frame is growing. Such exercises must, however, be carried out under a system; irregularly conducted, they do more harm than good. The constitution must be coaxed, not strained; the strength not unduly taxed, no over-fatigue ensuing; for exhaustion makes people look worn and old. The exertion must not be too violent, and the health and physical development of each pupil must be specially studied. Early morning or evening are the best times to select, but on no account immediately after a meal. The clothing should not be too warm, nor interfere in any way with the action of the limbs. A musical accompaniment will best preserve the necessary rhythm - the time, four or eight beats to a bar; failing this, the pupils should be taught to sing or count in concert, thereby keeping up their interest and zest. A castanet will, failing better means, help to mark the time with or without music. One of our aims is to revive these compositions and bring them to the attention of players and audiences.

Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus divisi - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1510472 By Christopher Alexander. By Christopher Alexander and Safirah Ladore. A Cappella,Contest,Festival,Multicultural,World. 24 pages. Christopher Alexander #1085666. Published by Christopher Alexander (A0.1510472). This is the first movement from the extended choral work Rising from the Ashes: Stories of Lahaina.Depicting the devastation and horror incurred in the Maui wildfires of August 2023, the choir and drums establish a powerful and unrelenting rhythmic drive without slowing down.  The text of the melody gets further illustrated with texture painting (wind blowing) and chord clusters (sirens), culminating in the cacophony of all these sounds along with a small ensemble from the choir making shouts and shrieks. As the music fades away, so does the hope of the Lahaina residents as their homeland is burned away forever.Full score and other movements (Forever Anew, Finding Strength in Shadows, Kama'aina) also available for purchase.

Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus divisi - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1510475 By Christopher Alexander. By Christopher Alexander and Noah Richard. A Cappella,Contest,Festival,Multicultural,World. 24 pages. Christopher Alexander #1085672. Published by Christopher Alexander (A0.1510475). This is the third movement from the extended choral work Rising from the Ashes: Stories of Lahaina. The three drums kick off this effervescent work, creating a joyful rhythmic cadence upon which the the choir sings. The inspiring text lifts the spirits of the singers and audience alike as the harmonies propel through slight modulations and resolutions to the original key. The work moves swiftly into a mele hula (dance that tells or depicts a story) about the Phoenix bird rising from its ashes and beginning to live a new life for itself. With a call and response setting transcending into the melodic treatment, the eight voices create a powerful and triumphant ending to this song.Full score and other movements (On That Night, Forever Anew, Kama'aina) also available for purchase.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB Chorus) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1510473 By Christopher Alexander. By Cameron Henry and Christopher Alexander. A Cappella,Contest,Festival,Multicultural,World. 12 pages. Christopher Alexander #1085670. Published by Christopher Alexander (A0.1510473). This is the second movement from the extended choral work Rising from the Ashes: Stories of Lahaina. After the horrific Maui wildfires, many residents of Lahaina (like many of us after a devastating event) became distraught and hopeless that their homeland was destroyed. This prayer gives solemness to this moment in the aftermath with the wish to bring their houses and livelihoods back again. A solo opportunity with an accompanying aleatoric choir creates a unique sound illustration that will astound your audience in performance. A closing statement gives renewed hope for a better tomorrow.Full score and other movements (On That Night, Finding Strength in Shadows, Kama'aina) also available for purchase.

Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1108509 By The Beatles. By John Lennon & Paul McCartney. Arranged by Diana Bar. 20th Century,Rock. Accompaniment. Duration 198. Diana Bar #711151. Published by Diana Bar (A0.1108509). The Long and Winding Road is one of my favourite Beatles songs from their 1970 album Let It Be. It is a brilliant song and one of the best songs ever written! The Long and Winding Road was written by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon-McCartney. It´s rather a sad song. McCartney told his biographer Barry Miles in the 1990s that the song was all about the unattainable; the door you never quite reach...the road that you never get to the end of . I hope you like my piano arrangement !
