Concert Band - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1430031 Composed by Frederick Septimus Kelly. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Classical,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. 67 pages. John Ivor Holland #1010645. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1430031). Born in Sydney in 1881, the seventh child of a wealthy family, Kelly was educated at Sydney Grammar School before being sent to England where he attended Eton College and Oxford University. At Eton his musical talents were nurtured under the tutelage of Dr Charles Harford Lloyd. He also developed a passion for rowing, eventually winning a gold medal for England in the 1908 London Olympics. After graduating from Oxford, Kelly began five years of musical study in piano and composition at the Hoch Conservatorium in Frankfurt, Germany. He made his professional debut as a pianist in Sydney in 1911. His London debut followed in 1912. His career was interrupted by the outbreak of the First World War.Elegy for String Orchestra In Memoriam Rupert Brooke was written during his war service in the final year of his life. It is an accomplished and moving work in the English pastoral style of the time, its lush modal string-writing sounding not unlike his famous English near-contemporary Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958). In the Australian context it stands out as a mature and beautiful musical statement by an Australian composer in relation to actual personal experiences of the tragedy of the First World War. As such it's unique in the Australian classical canon, and also part of that wider generational tragedy of what might have been if such an accomplished composer had lived on to create music into his old age. Arranged from the original string orchestra for symphonic wind ensemble and harp.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1467042 Composed by English Traditional Song. Arranged by Nat Brookes. Classical,Folk,Pop. 8 pages. Nat Brookes #1045603. Published by Nat Brookes (A0.1467042). Scarborough Fair Arranged by Nat Brookes for String Quartet POP PADThis arrangement takes the tune of Scarborough Fair and has some fun with it. The arrangement starts with a very tasteful section where the tune is in Violin I and the other instruments support it with gently moving accompaniment. The second section is more animated and more liberal with the tune, featuring pizzicato in the Vioilin II, Viola and Cello parts and punctuated halfway through by an ostentatious arpegiated figure. The third section is a little more harmonically adventurous, the intensity of which can be tempered by reducing the volume in the accompanying parts. Lastly, the ending recapitulates the last phrase of the tune in a busy but harmonically and rhythmically simple manor bringing the peice to a definate full stop. This arrangement is rather versatile and could easily be addapted for more formal settings like Weddings. For example, you could simply ignore the pizzicato instruction and bow the central section, whilst the 1st Violin could play the unadorned version of the tune from the A section. In fact the accompaniment of the A section is so generously rich with subtle contrapuntal content, that a String Quartet could easily repeat it whilst varying the dynamics to good effect.Included: Score and set of parts. Each part is a single page longRehearsal marks throughout. You can help me to continue arranging pop songs by reviewing my arrangements (click the button below) and liking Pop Pad on Facebook.Find more great arrangements here: Sheet Music Plus ($) Sheet Music Direct (£)Thanks,Nat

Large Ensemble Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869357 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 95 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #15877. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869357). Instrumentation: 2222-4231-timp-2perc-hp-pf-strings. Program note: First of all, a huge embrace for Max Hobart who has been so very supportive by promoting and premiering new works for the orchestra. Since 1991, I have written three works for Max and the Civic Symphony Orchestra of Boston. Symphony No. 4 ... War and Peace is my fourth contribution and this work is dedicated to Max. A year ago, John Finney and the University Chorale of Boston College premiered my Mass for the Holy Year 2000. It was a millennial commission by the Jesuit Institution for the community of Boston College. For that occasion I had originally planned to write a Mass whose texts would include both the Latin from the Ordinary of the Mass - Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus & Agnus Dei - and poems concerning the atrocities and senseless killing in warfare during the last century. However, as it turned out, the poems I chose ended up reflecting the Latin text, which is all about faith and redemption. But I still wanted to write an anti-war symphony. When I approached Max with this idea, he was very excited. Initially he was a little concerned that I might want to use the Tolstoy novel as my inspiration. I assured him that it would not be a four-hour symphony. In order to convey a political message through a symphonic work, texts set as songs are the most direct way. For this symphony, I have narrowed my focus to poems written by veterans of the First World War - some euphemistically call it the Great War. The first poem by Rupert Brooke, The Soldier, has an uneasy, patriotic cheerfulness to its message. The second poem by Wilfred Owen, Dulce et decorum est, is a more realistic view of warfare. Dying for one's own country is not so cool when the dead and the dying are staring at your face!!! The third and last poem by Ivor Gurney, To his love, reflects on the aftermath of war: peace, but at what cost!!! Rupert Brooke (1887 - 1915) died on a naval expedition near the Greek island of Gallipoli. He died of blood poisoning. Wilfred Owen (1893 - 1918) was wounded three times in France in the spring of 1917 and was sent back to England to recuperate. He returned to the Front, and was killed on November 4, 1918, just a few days before the Armistice was signed. Ivor Gurney (1890 - 1937), a composer as well, was acutely sensitive to the horrors of the war and, after being wounded and gassed in 1917, he was sent back home to a mental hospital. He died twenty years later without ever recovering from the traumas of war.Audio link: https://thomasoboelee.bandcamp.com/album/symphony-no-4-war-and-peace-2001

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1044415 By Rihanna. By Esther Dean, Mikkel Eriksen, Sandy Wilhelm, and Tor Erik Hermansen. Arranged by Nat Brookes. Hip-Hop,Pop,R & B. Score and parts. 47 pages. Nat Brookes #649140. Published by Nat Brookes (A0.1044415). S&M - Rihanna Arranged by Nat Brookes for String QuartetPop Pad This is a total bop! A great song, playfully arranged for string quartet. Great for ensembles with attitude. Originally in E♭m, I have thoughtfully written the parts so that it can easily be played up one semitone in Em. There’s a lovely section featuring some jeté bowing in the second violin later on which could easily be simplified for less experienced players. This catchy, uptempo, Hi-NRG dance-pop anthem featured in the highly successful first Pitch Perfect film, with Ester Dean (who wrote it) nailing that iconic intro. S&M peaked at number one in ten countries in addition to the United States while peaking within the top five in the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Ireland. As one of Rihanna’s most memorable songs, it’s sure to be recognised by many. Important: Included: Score and set of parts in E♭m and Em. I try to keep parts to two pages long, but in this case it wasn’t possible. Each part is three pages long Rehearsal marks throughout. Parts in E♭m are pages 11-24 Parts in Em are pages 36-47 You can help me to continue arranging pop songs by reviewing my arrangements and liking Pop Pad on Facebook.
