I was 14 years old, and at his funeral police pipers played, just before the rifles were fired. I was overwhelmed by the power of the instrument, of course compounded by my own sadness and emotion. Years later, a good friend died and another friend wrote him a requiem performed by 12 bagpipes, and after being in denial about his death the power of the sound again made be burst in to tears. Then I was out a Tanglewood at a Silk Road retreat and Osvaldo Golijov had brought a friend, Cristina Pato, to demonstrate her instrument, the Galician Gaita. I was blown away, for the first time the power of the instrument hit me with pure joy, I had never heard bagpipe played like this and by a woman, it was just spectacular! I immediately found a bagpipe teacher in Boston, and started learning Highland pipes, and a few years later, in 2010, went to Galicia and began studying the Gaita. This piece is dedicated to two great gaita players, Cristina Pato and my teacher Anton DaVila. La Fée Verte was commissioned by The Silk Road Project.About the ComposerChristine Southworth (b. 1978) is a composer and video artist based in Lexington, Massachusetts, dedicated to creating music born from a cross-pollination of sonic ideas. The music is almost like the classical version of craftwork, combining four-on-the-floor beats of techno music with the sharp sounds of modern music and organic poetry.I hope that the colorful musical notes on the score will be given life to and grow in this concert hall, creating a feast of dancing trees. Late elementary to early intermediate solo piano arrangement of Lost Boy by Ruth B.  This arrangement includes the complete lyrics to the song and the melody is written for the right hand.  It has been transposed to C Major to make it easier to learn (no sharps or flats!).  As a learning piece, this arrangement is great for students of the piano.  It explores some challenging concepts such as moving and crossing with the right hand, moving chord shapes in the left hand and some fun rhythms (duplets in 6/8 time and triplets in 4/4 time).  By simplifying the left hand shapes, keeping the right hand melody only, and picking the easier key signature of C Major, students are free to explore without getting too overwhelmed.As a piano teacher myself, I strive to create arrangements that capture the true essence of each popular tune while coaching students to expand their skills in very doable patterns.  Fingerings have been well-thought out and strategically placed.I hope you enjoy playing Lost Boy!

Despite his prior collaborations with Robinson, Horner stepped aside and thus the scoring assignment went to Jerry Goldsmith.  In the years following his magnificent stretch of production in 1998 and 1999,  Goldsmith’s output had slowed to a crawl and The Sum of All Fears proved to be a welcome return to form.
