Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.928983 Composed by Unknown. Arranged by Donald A. Mills, 2019. A Cappella,Blues,Concert,Folk. Octavo. 5 pages. Donald A Mills #4853851. Published by Donald A Mills (A0.928983). With an original introduction by this arranger, this melodic balled is sung here a cappella, unencumbered by instruments. Some of the chord structure is complex, but intuitive. Your audiences will surely love this beautiful song in this new arrangement for SATB.From Wikepedia:Historians have not been able to definitively identify The House Of The Rising Sun, but here are the two most popular theories:1) The song is about a gambling hall in New Orleans. The House Of The Rising Sun was named after Madame Marianne LeSoleil Levant (which means Rising Sun in French) and was open for business from 1862 (occupation by Union troops) until 1874, when it was closed due to complaints by neighbors. It was located at 826-830 St. Louis St.2) It's about a women's prison in New Orleans called the Orleans Parish women's prison, which had an entrance gate adorned with a rising sun artwork. The melody is a traditional English ballad, but the song became popular as an African-American folk song. It was recorded by Texas Alexander in the 1920s, then by a number of other artists including Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Josh White and later Nina Simone. It was her version The Animals first heard. No one can claim rights to the song, meaning it can be recorded and sold royalty-free. Many bands covered the song after it became a hit for The Animals.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1323225 Composed by Cornish folk tune. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Advent,Christmas,Folk,Holiday,Sacred. 10 pages. Con Spirito Music #911489. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1323225). “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” is an English traditional carol dating, perhaps, to the 16th or 17th century. A manuscript, ca. 1650, contains a version with the first line, “Sit you merry gentlemen” and the refrain, “O tidings of comfort and joy.” The earliest known printed edition of the carol is a London broadsheet dated 1760, in which the first line is the familiar “God rest ye merry, gentlemen.” By the 19th century, the carol was well-known, with Charles Dickens referencing it in his 1843 novella, A Christmas Carol. The phrase “God rest you merry” in the first line is an archaic idiom meaning “God grant you peace and happiness.” William Shakespeare used the phrase “rest you merry” in his plays, “As You Like It” and “Romeo and Juliet,” both from the 1590s; but Dickens recorded the phrase as “God bless you, merry gentlemen” in A Christmas Carol. The tune adapted for use in this arrangement was at the time of its notation a wordless, nameless melody noted in 1905 by folk song collector E. Quintrell from the singing of a Mr. Boaden in Cornwall, England. The tune was sent to Lucy Broadwood, editor of the Journal of the Folk-Song Society, who decided that it fit the ballad, “The Maid in Bedlam,” and published the tune and text together. Gustav Holst later arranged the tune as Song without Words ‘I'll Love My Love’” in his Second Suite in F for Military Band, Op. 28, No. 2 (1911) and again as “I Love My Love” in his 6 Choral Folksongs, Op. 36 (1916). Set in F minor (Dorian), the tune brings a contemplative tone to the text, with the high point of the refrain being the subdominant Bb major chord on the word “joy.” The rich, dark timbre of solo clarinet (part included) on introduction, interludes, and ending adds to this tone. SATB voices (with some divisi on soprano and tenor), piano, Bb clarinet©Copyright 2023 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.930749 Composed by Andrew Schneider. A Cappella,Christian,Contemporary,Romantic Period,Sacred. Octavo. 17 pages. Andrew Schneider #3494223. Published by Andrew Schneider (A0.930749). This is an a cappella anthem for church or concert performance which combines texts from Psalms 115 and 92 (NIV translation). It is in two sections, the first slow and homophonic for SATB choir (comparatively easier, in the idiom of God So Loved the World), the second fast for divisi SATB choir. The musical idiom is alla Mendelssohn, though I have opted for a formal treatment alla Russian Orthodox choral concerti, in which the vocal parts are treated somewhat like instruments. Either section can be done on its own as a separate and fulfilling piece, with the knowledge that the two sections are motivically linked.

SATB choir (choir divisi) unaccompanied - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8248-E Composed by Anthony Antolini and Pavel Grigorievich Chesnokov. Arranged by Anthony Antolini. Advanced/Collegiate. 20th Century, Communion. Instrument parts. 8 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8248-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8248-E). English, Slavonic.Nye ímamï inïya pómoshchi comes from a set of ten communion hymns, Opus 25. It is technically a kontakion, (a hymn sung in commemoration of a feast day, whether referring to Christ, the Virgin Mary, or to a saint). Nye ímamï inïya pómoshchi is intended to be sung for the feast day commemorating an icon of the Virgin entitled “The joy of all who sorrow,” (Всех скорбящих Радость|Vsekh skorbyashchikh Radost') observed on October 24 in the Orthodox Church calendar. The author of the text is unknown. In contemporary church practice, this work is sometimes sung during the communion of the clergy. Although other pieces in Opus 25 are based on traditional church chants, Nye ímamï inïya pómoshchi contains original music that is not based on any preexisting chant. The present edition is based on the first edition published in Moscow by Pyotr Ivanovich Jurgenson. The keyboard reduction has been modified from the Jurgenson edition. Russian Orthodox performance practice forbids the use of musical instruments to accompany church singing. Organ accompaniment, if used, should be unobtrusive. The Jurgenson edition includes Chesnokov's use of a quarter note without metronome marking. This indicates that the pulse is in a moderato tempo in quarter notes. A tempo of approximately 69 to the quarter note is suggested. The Jurgenson edition has inconsistent dynamic markings in various parts and text appears only below the soprano and tenor parts. For clarity and convenience, these indications have been included in each staff in the present edition. This scholarly performance edition includes notes concerning the history of Chesnokov and this piece, performance notes, the editorial method of the English singing version, and a pronunciation guide for the Slavonic transliteration.

SATB choir (choir divisi) unaccompanied - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8781-E Composed by Kevin Siegfried. 14 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8781-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8781-E). English. This is the central movement of Angel of Light, a cantata based on Shaker themes. A dancing and playful rhythmic ride, it is ideal as a light-hearted opening or closing piece. The text dates from 1844 and is a lively example of a Shaker dance song. The vocal sounds represent a uniquely American form of mouth music- a style of traditional singing where nonsense words are used to mimic the sounds of instruments or the rhythms of a dance.
