This miniature for bassoon and string orchestra was written as part of a multi-composer suite for the Delian Society based on the poetry of Paul Verlaine. It was premiered by Franck Leblois and the Octava Chamber Orchestra (the audio sample is the performance in question several years ago). The string parts are originally an arrangement of my choral setting of Gavin Ewart's poem Alcohol and the bassoon part completes it and makes it more French.
