Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1354717 Composed by Gene De Paul and Johnny Mercer. Arranged by Martyn Clive Johnson (aka Martycli Piano Guy). 20th Century,Contemporary,Film/TV,Jazz,Ragtime. Score. 8 pages. Martyn Johnson #939414. Published by Martyn Johnson (A0.1354717). This is an up tempo Stride piano version of Namely You. The song comes from the musical and film 'Li'l Abner' a spoof about hillbillies. It was written in 1956. I take the tune through the 3 keys of Bb, B and C major. The left hand is sometimes a little bit tricky in Stride piano but the tenths can be played in single notes or octaves or can be 'rolled' if the hands are not large enough.I don't include fingering or dynamics in my pieces and prefer to leave these up to the individual pianist as no two piano teachers ever agree on these things. I do include chord symbols as I find these the most useful in learning and memorising music. Many people have recorded this tune including Diana Dors, Carmen Macrae, Sonny Rollins, Fred Hersch etc. It is, though, perhaps less well known than other jazz standards but is nontheless a wonderfully melodic tune. Hope you enjoy my version.

Brass Quintet Bass Trombone,Cornet,Euphonium,Flugelhorn,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1003225 Composed by Martyn C Adams. Contemporary,Holiday,Jazz,Patriotic,Standards. 41 pages. Martyn C Adams #6065119. Published by Martyn C Adams (A0.1003225). This is a fun jazzy piece of music that tells a story of a clown. The story: -The clown is getting ready feeling nervous and excited, this feeling should come across in the solo Trombone part at the beginning, with the part in the upper range of the Trombone; making good use of vibrato and glissandos. The clown makes his entrance into the ring and begins to perform various tricks. The clown walks off the stage and his true feelings and emotions are revealed, waiting expectantly for their applause, he wonders what he could have done better.Hearing the cheering and applause, the clown jumps back into the ring for their final act!Style: -Trombones encouraged to add additional glissandos that work.Stage Performance: -I encourage any additional acting to support and tell the story. Whether that be dressing up, acting like a clown or general stage movement.
