Each movement can stand alone but work better as a larger work, The movements become successively more difficult. This piece will require a significant amount of coordination to execute. The piece was inspired by some rock climbing exploits which required great planning and coordination to accomplish. Performance Advice: The performer should be creative with the problems faced in this piece. It is up to the performer to decide which hand is designated for the keyboard (occasionally both hands will be required). Most of the hi-hat notes should be played by a foot. One choice leads to another choice and dictates a path. As the piece moves towards an ending, the performer matures and is allowed to make more choices (ex: dynamics, accents, tempo). The section markers Child, Youth, Adult, and Elder should be considered as style indications and a suggested mindset. Instrumentation is left up to the performer so long as the instruments have a skin or plastic head. These two alternative notation duets are geared towards making a duo communicate, listen, flex their creativity, focus on sounds, and make artistic choices. You can read more below from the performance notes for the series but the highlights include: Choice of open instrumentation, choice of paper orientation, choice of rotation (clockwise or counter-clockwise), and choice of speed. More info below!The outside of the wheel connects to the events which are to be played upon an instrument capable of producing the written chords, while the inside wheel connects to the events which are to be played upon an instrument capable of the range and 3 timbres (open, muted, and either a harmonic of a multiphonic)***. This piece is meant to begin at whichever musical event the performers agree upon and rotate in a clockwise or counter-clockwise motion which is also determined and agreed upon by the performers. The orientation of the page is also left to the players discretion but must be agreed upon. When the lines connecting the musical events to the wheel are staggered around the wheel then each musical event must be played in full before the other performer starts his or her next event. When the lines are directly across from one and other the events are to be played simultaneously. The musical events must stay in the order in which they occur around the wheel. When two lines connect a single musical event to the wheel, that event is to be vamped(repeated) until the completion of the other player's event which occurs within that time. The moments of locking in time(both performers playing the selected notes in time with one another) are indicated by parentheses around one or more notes in two simultaneous events***. Swingin’ Strut gives the players the chance to improvise or choose mini solos to play at certain places (more info below). The players can also choose their own dynamics throughout this piece. Try to make each performance a bit different. When you are learning Swingin’ Strut, keep the fun in mind and it may help the performance to imagine something that struts (EX: A rooster, a college student who aced an exam, Mick Jagger, or a kid who finally landed the jump off the swing). This Vibraphone Concerto is an Advanced piece for Vibraphone and piano.  It is written in a way that will stretch the player’s ability to communicate with an accompanist and perform complex crossed and additive patterns.  This concerto requires the soloist to develop a keen sense of phrasing to execute the melodic and additive lines properly. Duration – 13minsThis piece was started in 2008 as an incidental piano piece written for The Revolving Doors Soap Opera.  I didn't finish the piece until 2013 when by accident I changed the midi sound to a vibraphone and proceeded to rewrite the 1st theme for vibraphone and piano.  The flow of the piece could be attributed somewhat to listening to the music of Phillip Glass, Jethro Tull, Claude Debussy, and Béla Fleck at the time.  I wrote parts of this composition while under the instruction of Dr. Daniel McCarthy.
