It is a cheerful waltz but quite schmaltzy and nostalgic too. I take it through the 2 keys of F major and Gb major. I do use 10ths quite a bit in my playing but they can easily be replaced with single bass notes or octaves as required.I don't indicate pedaling, fingering or dynamics as no two piano teachers ever agree on such things and I prefer to entrust the tunes interpretation to the individual pianist. Likewise the suggested tempo is not written in stone.I enjoyed writing this waltz and hope it brings a similar pleasure to anyone who learns to play it.

This is a my piano version of 'A Kiss to Build a Dream On'It is mostly in the key of C major but modulates briefly to Eb for the ending. I have arranged it in a stride piano style. This style of music has evolved from the ragtime of Scott Joplin through the early jazz piano players like Fats Waller and James P Johnson. The left hand can be tricky but it can be simplified by replacing the tenths with single bass notes. It's both a cheerful and sentimental tune. I have included chord symbols which I find as useful as the notation when learning a piece. I haven't included pedal symbols, dynamics or fingering - leaving this as a choice for the player and no two pianist ever see eye to eye on these issues in any event!Please note this is a piano solo only and other instruments included in my YouTube video are not notated.

For me, it works very well. Elton himself was well versed in honky tonk, pub piano styles and the chord progression is very accepting of this treatment. If some of the voicings ie 10ths are too large for your left hand simply play single bass notes or octaves instead, or feel free to roll the tenths. Please note this is a piano solo and I haven't notated any of the other instruments in my YouTube arrangement. I do, however, write my arrangements for solo piano first and they sound perfect as such. I don't include fingering, phrasing or dynamic marking as no two piano teachers will agree upon so I leave this trustingly to the individual performer. I do include chord symbols which I find more helpful in learning repertoire.Have fun playing this. I did. I'm a big Elton John fan and this is one of my favourite numbers of his and it was a pleasure to notate it.

It is basically a stride piano version but the right hand owes a lot to ragtime too. It should be played with a nice swing rhythm ie tied triplets not straight quavers (eighth notes) and with a bit of a bounce!I don't include fingering or dynamics of which no two piano teachers would agree on, so I leave this to the discretion of the player. I do include chord symbols which I always find most useful in learning a tune. Please note this is a piano solo and doesn't show the notation for the other instruments included on my youtube upload ie strings and bass. This is my version of the classic tune performed by Richard Clayderman the iconic French pianist. I have done a complete departure from the arrangement he plays and done it as a slightly up tempo stride piano/ragtime piece. It's such a good melody I think it survives this treatment very well and sounds kind of cool, though I say so myself!I like to keep my arrangements as simple and easy to read as possible so I avoid pedal markings, dynamics and fingering all of which you'd struggle to find two piano teachers to agree on so  I leave them to the discretion of the individual pianist.If the intervals of 10ths are too big for your hands, as is often the case, they can be 'rolled' or just play the root note in octaves or even single notes.Please note I don't include notation for the other instruments on my YouTube recording it is simply a piano solo. It was written as a piano solo so it sounds perfect just like that.I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed arranging it. Best of luck.

This tune was written in 1933 by Jerome Kern with words by Otto Harbach for the musical 'Robera'. It has been recorded by so many great artists but perhaps most famously by 'The Platters'. I have arranged it for piano in the key of F which and then modulated into Ab second time round. It has further key changes within the tune during the bridge. I have reharmonised it significantly to give it a jazz feel. I have given it a semi-quaver/sixteenth note feel rather than a swing beat which I felt suited it as a ballad.Please note it is a piano solo and doesn't include the bass line that is on my YouTube recording. I write all my arrangements as piano solos first so it sounds perfect as such. One of the most popular jazz standards ever written, Dorothy Fields providing the lyrics. First sung in the film 'Swing Time' by Fred Astaire to Ginger Rogers but covered by such legends as Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennet and more recently by Michael Buble and Phil Collins.My version is a Stride Piano version but owes the tempo and the right hand just a little bit to Erroll Garner and I take it through the 2 keys of Eb major and F major.I haven't included fingering, dynamics or pedal markings as I prefer to leave these to the discretion of the individual pianist as no two piano teachers would ever agree on such things. Please note this is a piano solo and doesn't include notation for the other instruments that feature on my YouTube video. It was written, however, like all my compositions and arrangements, as a piano solo and sounds perfect as such. The left hand, being stride has a very full sound. I was also in mind of the iconic version done by Edith Piaf also. It contains a little interlude in the style of JS Bach that I hope will amuse.The left hand can be tricky at speed but single notes can be played instead of octaves and tenths and the chords can be simplified without losing the overall style.I haven't included dynamic markings and fingerings, leaving this choice to the individual pianist. Likewise with the use of sustain pedal. Seldom can you get two pianists to agree on these things!Please note this is a solo piano version and does not contain notation of the other instruments on my YouTube video. It was however written for solo piano and sounds just as good with or without other instruments.

My arrangement is a tribute to the old Fat's Waller recording. It's not copied from that rendition at all but I have arranged it as a stride piano piece and hope it exudes some of the joy that Mr Waller brought to it.I take it through three iterations in C, Db and D major, going up a semi-tone each time - so plenty of practice in trickier keys. I don't include dynamics in my notation nor fingering and pedalling as I prefer to leave these to the discretion of the individual pianist. You will never get two piano teachers to agree on these things. I like to give the reader the notes as simply as possible and leave the interpretation up to them. Similarly with voicings - some notes will be held longer instinctively by the pianist than others and do not need to be placed in separate voicings to make them difficult to read.The stride piano left hand often contains 10ths which can be too large a span for some pianists. The solution is to roll them or to just play them as a single bass note on the root of the chord or as an octave.This is a wonderfully joyous piece and I hope you get as much pleasure from learning and playing it as I did arranging it.

Cb major has 7 flats but is not so hard as you might think as it's easy to remember to flatten every note instead of having to remember which notes to flatten! I interweave arpeggios between the melody notes and it therefore has a very full sound to it. It is sort of a Stride waltz in that the bass is usually, with some variations, followed by two chords on each beat.I don't notate fingering, pedals or dynamics as I leave the interpretation up to the individual pianist and in any event no two piano teachers ever agree on these things.Please note this is a piano solo and I doesn't include notation for the other instruments on my YouTube upload, strings, drums, bass guitar. I do include chord symbols as I find these the most useful in learning and memorising music. Many people have recorded this tune including Diana Dors, Carmen Macrae, Sonny Rollins, Fred Hersch etc. It is, though, perhaps less well known than other jazz standards but is nontheless a wonderfully melodic tune.
