Nos. 1, 2 & 3 were composed at the same time as the flute and organ set, (one initial idea was for the solo instrument to be playable on either flute or oboe since En dehors la brise apaisante had been performed twice with organ and flute). No. 4 was an adaptation of an unfinished trio for piano, flute, and violin, and No. 5 was a completion of an oboe/organ piece that I started writing in 2019 when I left Europe. There is no obligation to perform these as a suite, although there was some deliberation in ordering each vignette as presented in the score to provide a flow of dynamic and character.

Numerous odd meters (including 7/4, 11/8) with polyrhythms and syncopations. Essentially tonal but with much chromaticism.Would suit players of a moderate to advanced level..

They are simply a vague descriptive of a moment or mood. There is no obligation to perform these as a suite, although for concert programming I thought that something faster and less pastoral would be in order, hence the scherzo for No. 3.The mp3 file is a Sibelius playback with generic sounds so this should not be used as a guide to the organ registrations. These are specific enough in the score and should be adhered to as much as practical.The Trois Vignettes would suit moderate to advanced players.Flute part available on request

A short set of two contrasting organ pieces, each composed at the start and end of a visit to Canada for the 1998 Calgary International Organ Festival. Both pieces were written away from any instrument and mostly during aeroplane flights.The Peaks Below has a minimal and sparse texture, modal tonality, and would suit a beginning to developing player. There is an optional electronic accompaniment for this piece also.Surrealist Fugue (No. 1) requires an advanced technique. Whilst it incorporates some fugal methods, it concentrates more on dissonances and free chromaticism.
