'Bargain Hunt' is a British television programme in which two pairs of contestants are challenged to buy antiques from shops or a fair and then sell them in an auction for a profit. It has aired on BBC One since 13 March 2000. Whilst much of the music used in the show is from library stock, the distinctive theme, which has gone through a few different versions, remains, with a great line for baritone saxophone. It's short, but punchy, so would provide a bit of light relief in an outdoor setting or a concert of film and TV music.

The programme migrated to TV, where it ran from 1962-75, and was called Television Top of the Form. This version is for string orchestra and makes an attractive short concert item. It makes a wonderful item for a concert, with a Rondo form and a spirited feel that’s easy to lock together.The TV show has tried different versions over the years, including one by Mike Oldfield, but my arrangement is based the full-length version as played by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.I’ve changed the key to D major so that everything fits on the neck of the guitar and uses familiar notes.Guitar 4 is tuned to 6=D to add more depth. An alternative Guitar 4 part in bass clef is also supplied, and here normal tuning is used.The original theme is fast. To be honest, it’s very fast indeed. But it works just fine on guitar when played a little slower.The standard is intermediate when played at a modest speed, but Guitar 1 will need an advanced intermediate player if the tempo is pushed upwards.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. We'll Meet Again was written in 1939 by Ross Parker and Hughie Charles, and made famous by singer Dame Vera Lynn. The song is one of the most famous of the Second World War era. It later gave its name to the 1943 musical film We'll Meet Again, where Vera Lynn played the lead role. During the Cold War, Lynn's recording of the song was included in the package of music and programmes held in 20 underground radio stations of the BBC's Wartime Broadcasting Service (WTBS), designed to provide public information and morale-boosting broadcasts for 100 days after a nuclear attack. In 2005, Vera Lynn sang the song in London on the 60th Anniversary of VE Day in 2005, and, in 2020, a duet with Katherine Jenkins reached number 72 on the UK Singles Chart. Arranged during the 2019/2020 Coronavirus Pandemic to commemorate/celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day, it is designed for two treble-clef instruments in the same key.
