Brass Ensemble Horn - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.919038 Composed by Traditional Scottish Melodies. Arranged by L.C. Harnsberger. Celtic,Contemporary,Folk,Irish,Wedding. Score and parts. 23 pages. LCH Music #6426577. Published by LCH Music (A0.919038). This arrangement of Scottish traditional songs includes three iconic Scottish melodies: Bluebells of Scotland, Turn Again, Thou Fair Elisa, and Annie Laurie. The long soaring melodies and bagpipe-style drones of these songs work beautifully for horn quartet. These arrangements are ideal for weddings, preludes, funerals, and any recital. The origins of Scottish traditional music date back to at least the late Middle Ages, with songs passed down orally until many of the songs were published in collections in the 18th century. Scotland’s National Poet Robert Burns (1759-1796) famously collected Scottish folk songs and adapted many of the melodies to include his poetry. Today, elements of Scottish traditional music are found in epic film soundtracks such as Braveheart, Mary Queen of Scots, and Rob Roy, as well as classical symphonic works including Mendelssohn’s Scottish symphony. Bluebells of Scotland was most famously used by Arthur Pryor in his piece Blue Bells of Scotland for solo trombone and band. There are a few different versions of the melody Turn Again, Thou Fair Elisa, but the melody Robert Burns used (as published in the 1903 edition of The Songs of Robert Burns) is arguably the most beautiful. The timeless song Annie Laurie describes the ill-fated romance between Scottish soldier William Douglas and Annie Laurie, the young daughter of a British aristocrat. The music is often attributed to Lady John Scott (1810-1900).

Brass Quintet Baritone Horn TC,Cornet,Euphonium,Flugelhorn,Trombone,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1215186 By Keith Terrett. By Williamson. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Patriotic,Praise & Worship,Traditional. 10 pages. Keith Terrett #812052. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1215186). An arrangement of the Scottish National Anthem for Brass Band Quintet. A constituent nation of the United Kingdom, Scotland lacks an official, legislated national song; in fact there are several songs in use as national songs of Scotland. The one most often considered as the unofficial national anthem (and most often presented as Scotland’s anthem at sporting matches) is Flower of Scotland, written by Roy Williamson in 1965 for the popular folk group The Corries. It was first used in a sporting match in 1974 by the Scottish national rugby team in 1974, sung by the team. When the British God Save the Queen was sung before a rugby match in 1988 to represent Scotland, and was met by derision from the crowd, Flower of Scotland was adopted as Scotland’s pregame anthem. Flower of Scotland, however, has not been adopted in any official basis as the Scottish anthem. Other popular national songs of Scotland have sometimes used as unofficial national anthems, the most common being Scotland the Brave (a traditional melody (sheet music) with lyrics writted by Cliff Hanley in 1950). Scotland the Brave was used as the Scottish anthem at the Commonwealth Games until 2010 (when it was replaced by Flower of Scotland) and is most commonly heard on the bagpipe, the Scottish national instrument. When the Scottish Parliament was opened in 1997, another national song (A Man’s A Man for A’ That by national poet Robert Burns) was used, which isn’t usually presented as a Scottish anthem. The choice of this song may have been to duck the controversy of choosing one of the previously mentioned national songs as an official regional anthem, or by using God Save the Queen (the anthem of the United Kingdom, of which Scotland is a part). Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.937284 Composed by Scottish Traditional (Burns). Arranged by Hugh Levey. Celtic,Folk,Holiday,Irish,Traditional,Wedding. 24 pages. Woodwindly.com #6493483. Published by woodwindly.com (A0.937284). Wind Quintet (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn, Bassoon) Duration 2 minutes 35 seconds. 23 Pages This is a fun set of variations on Robert Burns' My Love She's But a Lassie Yet) is sure to entertain in recital, at a Burns Night, St. Andrew's Night or for any occasion where there is a toast to Rabbie or to Scotland.Although Burns wrote the words of the song, he probably set them to a variation of an existing tune called Lady Badinscoth's Reel. This lively arrangement for Wind Quintet starts off with a stately ‘classical’ arrangement of My Love She’s But a Lassie Yet, but as it develops the tune combines with another traditional melody, followed by some operatic quotations, and even a five part fugue. It ends with an embellished restatement of the opening. It is great fun for all players.

Accordion - Digital Download SKU: A0.822592 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Julia Gordon. Celtic,Folk,World. Score. 5 pages. Julia Gordon #3578371. Published by Julia Gordon (A0.822592). four Scottish airs arranged as a set for accordion THE AULD HOOSEWritten by Carilina Oliphant (Lady Nairne, 1766-1845) this is a nostalgic song about her birthplace in Gask, Perthshire.LOCH LOMONDLoch Lomond, also known as ‘The Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond’, is a well-known traditional Scottish song first published in 1841 in 'Vocal Melodies of Scotland'. There are many theories about the meaning of the song, most of which are connected to the Jacobite Uprising of 1745. One interpretation based on the lyrics is that the song is sung by the lover of a captured Jacobite rebel set to be executed in London following a show trial. The heads of the executed rebels were then set upon pikes and exhibited in all of the towns between London and Edinburgh in a procession along the 'high road' (the most important road), while the relatives of the rebels walked back along the 'low road' (the ordinary road travelled by peasants and commoners).COMIN’ THRO’ THE RYEThe lyrics were written in 1782 by Robert Burns (1759–96) who put the words to the melody of the ‘Common' Frae The Town’, a variant of the tune to which 'Auld Lang Syne' is usually sung.THE BLUEBELLS OF SCOTLANDThe Bluebells of Scotland is the usual modern name for a Scottish folk song. It was written by Dora Jordan, an English actress and writer, and first published in 1801.
