Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1323225 Composed by Cornish folk tune. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Advent,Christmas,Folk,Holiday,Sacred. 10 pages. Con Spirito Music #911489. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1323225). “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” is an English traditional carol dating, perhaps, to the 16th or 17th century. A manuscript, ca. 1650, contains a version with the first line, “Sit you merry gentlemen” and the refrain, “O tidings of comfort and joy.” The earliest known printed edition of the carol is a London broadsheet dated 1760, in which the first line is the familiar “God rest ye merry, gentlemen.” By the 19th century, the carol was well-known, with Charles Dickens referencing it in his 1843 novella, A Christmas Carol. The phrase “God rest you merry” in the first line is an archaic idiom meaning “God grant you peace and happiness.” William Shakespeare used the phrase “rest you merry” in his plays, “As You Like It” and “Romeo and Juliet,” both from the 1590s; but Dickens recorded the phrase as “God bless you, merry gentlemen” in A Christmas Carol. The tune adapted for use in this arrangement was at the time of its notation a wordless, nameless melody noted in 1905 by folk song collector E. Quintrell from the singing of a Mr. Boaden in Cornwall, England. The tune was sent to Lucy Broadwood, editor of the Journal of the Folk-Song Society, who decided that it fit the ballad, “The Maid in Bedlam,” and published the tune and text together. Gustav Holst later arranged the tune as Song without Words ‘I'll Love My Love’” in his Second Suite in F for Military Band, Op. 28, No. 2 (1911) and again as “I Love My Love” in his 6 Choral Folksongs, Op. 36 (1916). Set in F minor (Dorian), the tune brings a contemplative tone to the text, with the high point of the refrain being the subdominant Bb major chord on the word “joy.” The rich, dark timbre of solo clarinet (part included) on introduction, interludes, and ending adds to this tone. SATB voices (with some divisi on soprano and tenor), piano, Bb clarinet©Copyright 2023 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1044850 By Mark R Lewis. By Mark R Lewis. Celtic,Folk,Irish. Octavo. 48 pages. Mark R Lewis #649472. Published by Mark R Lewis (A0.1044850). This original song tells a fairy tail in the style of a Celtic folk song. Both the story and the tune are wholly original and were composed as part of a music production class that Mark participated in during the spring of 2022. This song tells the story of a young boy's adventure in the woods, his skepticism towards what the old folks say, and the results of his failure to listen to them. This piece by Mark R Lewis is arranged for SATB ensemble. All parts get the melody at some point and there are several duets between voices parts throughout the piece. Additionally the accompaniment voices switch between homophonic harmonies and arpeggiating chords several times for increased complexity and interest. The instrumental parts consist of vibraphone, piano, bass guitar, and floor tom parts. Any mellow metallophone would be an appropriate substitute for the vibraphone and the bass guitar part can be played on almost any bass instrument. The optional floor tom could be substituted with any other lower, resonant drum available but should not be a short, sharp sound. All that said, both the vibraphone and bass guitar parts are mostly doubled in the piano or vocal lines so groups that do not have access to those instruments should still be able to perform this piece without concern. This piece is also available for Vocal Trio w/ Mixed Ensemble and the sound files sampled here are from that arrangement. Vocal Range: d minor Soprano - 1+ octave (D4 to E5) Alto - 1+ octave (A3 to D5) Tenor - 1+ octave (C3 to D4) Bass - 1+ octave (F2 to A3) Instrumental Range: Vibraphone - 1+ octave (D4 to E5) Piano - ability to reach at least an octave in both hands Bass guitar - 1+ octave (E2 to A3).

Large Ensemble B-Flat instrument,C Instrument,Cello,Choir,Clarinet,E-Flat Instrument,Flute,High Voice,Low Voice,Medium Voice,Oboe,Piano Accompaniment,Saxophone,Trombone,Trumpet,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.564609 By Sharon Wilson. By African-American Spiritual. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Praise & Worship,Sacred,Spiritual,Traditional. Score and parts. 34 pages. Sharon Wilson #1501. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.564609). No one need be left out in this fun, easy-to-learn arrangement which includes reproducible parts for the congregation and an eclectic ensemble of instruments (flute, oboe, violin, trumpet, clarinet, trombone, cello, saxophone, and others). The lead singer carries the melody while the SATB choir (or quartet) echoes with the harmony parts. After a verse or two, the congregation can join in using the reproducible lead sheet (or since the words are in the public domain, project them on a screen). The score includes four verses (I'm gonna live, work, pray, sing...) but the song can be made as long or short as desired by using fewer verses or repeating some or even adding more words in place of the four suggested. The Lead, SATB, and 2 additional harmony parts (a descant and bass line) are transcribed for C instruments and most parts are also transcribed for B-Flat and E-flat instruments. There is also a separate piano accompaniment score with the melody line (and guitar chords) for reference. Written in the key of F major, the vocal ranges are as follows: Lead--C4 to D5; Soprano--C4 to A4; Alto--A3 to F4; Tenor--F3 to C4; Baritone--C3 to A3. Alto Voice,Bass Voice,Cello,Piano Accompaniment,Soprano voice,Tenor Voice,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1318802 Composed by Connie Boss. Arranged by Connie Boss. Christmas,Holiday. 122 pages. Connie Boss #907356. Published by Connie Boss (A0.1318802). Everyone knows how special the star was for the birth of Jesus. The star guided many along the way to find the manger that Mary, Joseph and the newborn baby, Jesus were at. This cantata reflects the importance of the star during that time. Most of the songs have lyrics about the star.  The cantata starts off with Mary finding out from the angel that God chose her to bear his son - Ave Maria was redone for this advent moment. It keeps to the melody and Ave Maria words are still part of the lyrics. Some of the lyrics have the English translation in the song, while other lyrics are new for this Christmas song. The next song O Little Town of Bethlehem is where Mary and Joseph have to travel to pay their taxes and where     Jesus is born. This is where the star shines down for all to see.  This is the traditional song, but I have added extra lyrics at the end of each original verse. Next, the shepherds seeing the star decide to travel to Bethlehem. Pachelbel Canon is so iconic, but I have added lyrics from While Shepherds watched their flocks by night, Away in a Manger, What Child is This and The First Noel. The choir parts bring rich harmonies to the piece. The Angels said leave your sheep and leave your lambs. Rise up Shepherd and Follow. Now we are at the manger. I composed the song - A Little Baby. He was born to save us all. . Still, Still, Still “Tis the Night of Our Savior’s Birth has added lyrics to each verse that ties in with the original lyrics. The title of this cantata is They Saw A Star - this is from the song I composed with the same title. It not only brings in the shepherds, but also the Three Wisemen. To close out this cantata, I have used the lyrics from We Three Kings and the melody of Scarborough Fair. This arrangement has an ST duet with SATB choir parts with ahhs that sound very mysterious. It also does include parts for strings if you are lucky enough to have violins and a cello. The strings parts are the same as the choir parts, so it is perfectly fine to do this with just a choir.  I hope you enjoy singing and listening to this cantata—Connie Boss.

Heather Bacon-Shone #2329273. Published by Heather Bacon-Shone (A0.886424). This lilting Christmas song, based on a 15th-century German carol, is arranged in call-and-response style for solo voice and harmonized SATB choir, with organ (or piano) accompaniment. The solo voice part is pitched at mid-range and could be sung by soprano, alto, tenor, or bass. For variety, the solo voice part could also be doubled or performed solo by instruments such as violin, clarinet, flute, etc. Alternatively, the solo part could be sung by the congregation in unison, with the church choir providing the responses in harmony. The carol and accompaniment are easy and accessible for any choir. With the words for 8 verses included, this carol works well when a song of variable length is needed, such as for communion, a processional, or congregational candle-lighting.
