Solo Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.982529 Composed by Isaac Albeniz. Arranged by Daniel Clark. Romantic Period. Individual part. 13 pages. Daniel Clark #6441461. Published by Daniel Clark (A0.982529). The work draws on original and early piano editions as well as the first guitar transcription made by Severino GarciÌa Fortea who introduced key innovations familiar to most classical guitarists. Guitarists are encouraged to use this arrangement in consultation with the transcriptions by GarciÌa Fortea, AndreÌs Segovia, and Stanley Yates. Asturias is known for its abrupt chord interruptions which gives it its distinctive character. In the original, less well known, transcription for guitar by GarciÌa Fortea, these were plucked with the thumb and three fingers simultaneously. Segovia expanded the chord to a full six strings which is strummed. This six-string variation is now adopted as standard in nearly all classical guitar versions and the work of GarciÌa Fortea has all but been forgotten. Stanley Yates was aware of GarciÌa’s version, though seems to have been misdirected by Segovia and did not appear to get hold of GarciÌa’s work before making his own transcription. A key difference between the piano versions and guitar versions is the fact that the pedal note is missing immediately following the chords played on the first notes of the bar. This seems to be a pragmatic decision made due to the technical challenge of articulating a chord on the guitar and then immediately following up with a pedal note. It may have been also a decision to more strongly emphasise the chord. However, the composer clearly indicated that the chord should be as short as all of the other notes and hence it is reasonable to strike the chord and immediately lose it and start the pedal note.

Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1396458 By The Candlelight Guitarist. By Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Brad Powell. Baroque,Blues,Classical,Instructional,Jazz. Guitar Tab. 4 pages. Geofonica Artistworks #979795. Published by Geofonica Artistworks (A0.1396458). Bach's classic Bourrée in E minor arranged for guitar in a jazz-swing-blues style, with walking bass lines on guitar, melody figures swung, and harmonic passages adapted towards a cool jazz and bluey idiom. It's actually a bit more difficult than the original--because the swung melody and bass lines are syncopated rather than matched... but it is very cool and fun to play, and a great showpiece for an intermediate level guitarist! A fun surprise addition to a recital! Listen to the performance by Brad in the link provided!  Incidentally... Brad studied from and was mentored by jazz guitar giant Joe Pass, and took a master class from Andrés Segovia, so this arrangement bridges both musical worlds--jazz and classical--that he came up in.ABOUT: Brad Powell (aka The Candlelight Guitarist) began guitar at age ten, inspired by The Beatles. At 15, he became a protégé of jazz guitarist Joe Pass, and later studied classical guitar under Vincent Macaluso, and at California State University, Northridge under Ronald Purcell, with a master class under Andrés Segovia. Brad was featured performing Gerald Wilson's Sonata for Guitar and Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, with the composer conducting. Brad was mentored in composition by David Rose (composer for Little House on the Prairie). Brad has composed music for TV, including Hill Street Blues and The 'A' Team, working with Mike Post. Brad has ten albums as The Candlelight Guitarist. When not making music, Brad is often out hiking with his four dogs. Brad also played as the solo guitarist for Disney's Princess Breakfast Adventure at Disney's Grand Californian Resort by Disneyland (March 2019-January 2024), providing music for the Disney Princesses (Belle, Tiana, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Mulan, Aurora, Ariel, Pocahontas, Cinderella, and their friends and guests).COMMENTS FROM LONG-ESTABLISHED REVIEWERS (for this and other Candlelight Guitarist recordings)...Bill Binkelman - Music Reviewer for Zone Music Reporter and New Age RetailerThe Candleight Guitarist is your tour guide to a land of easy-going, warm, and inviting instrumentals.Rebecca of Amazon - Amazon.com HALL OF FAME TOP 500 REVIEWERBradley Powell's flawless playing allows you to completely relax into sleep or relax into an evening of candlelight and romance. Guitar - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q11370 Urtext. Composed by Joaquin Turina. This edition: Sheet music. Guitar Archive. Downloadable. Op. 69. Duration 5:30. Schott Music - Digital #Q11370. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q11370). The Spaniard Joaquin Turina (1882-1949) was one of the first contemporary composers who, addressed by the outstanding guitarist Andrés Segovia, wrote contemporary original works for the guitar, thus paving the way for this instrument onto the international concert stages in the 20th century. Meanwhile, it is a known fact that Segovia often edited the musical text of the compositions written for him and arranged it according to his personal style of interpretation. Our new editions of Turina's most important works are therefore based on both the first editions and the original autograph versions, thus presenting for the first time the original text. Today, no performer can get around these new editions if he/she wants to deal with Turina's artistic legacy in a responsible manner.

Acoustic Guitar,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1287061 Composed by Hans Haug. Arranged by Zellev. 20th Century,Broadway,Classical,Contemporary,Medieval,Musical/Show. Score and individual part. 20 pages. Zellev Music #878068. Published by Zellev Music (A0.1287061). Hans Haug (1900-1967) was a Swiss composer and conductor, mainly of operas and theatrical music. He also became known as a composer for the classical guitar. In December 1950, Haug's Concertino for Guitar and Chamber Orchestra won a prize at a composition competition for guitar at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy. It was Haug's first guitar composition. The prizewinners were promised that Segovia would premiere their pieces in the summer of 1952 and that they would be published afterwards by Schott of London. Whereas this promise was kept in the case of Tansman's Cavatina (Schott published it in 1952), Segovia never played Haug's Concertino, which had to await publication until three years after Haug's death in 1970. It appeared in a facsimile edition under the auspices of Edizioni Musicali Bèrben. Alexandre Lagoya and the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra played its world premiere.Hans Haug became acquainted with other guitarists such as Luise Walker at the Geneva Competition in 1956. As a result of this meeting, he wrote his Fantasia for Guitar and Piano (1957), which he dedicated to her. In 1963, his Capriccio for flute and guitar was written for the duo Werner Tripp and Konrad Ragossnig (released on RCA Victor 440.182). Also, Haug composed a Concerto for flute, guitar and orchestra in 1966, and he used the guitar in some other works.
