Arranged by Warren Campbell. 20th Century,Contest,Festival. Brass Band. 114 pages. Robert Campbell #644812. Published by Robert Campbell (A0.1039937). This classic concert overture written originally by Alfred Reed in 1980 for wind orchestra, is now arranged here for a traditional (British-style) brass band. It was inspired by the poem Atalanta in Calydon by Victorian era English poet, Algernon Charles Swinburne, a recreation in modern English verse of an ancient Greek tragedy. The poem's magical picture of young love in springtime, forms the basis for his musical setting in traditional three-part overture form.
