Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.927168 Composed by George Willson. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 73 pages. George Willson #3515727. Published by George Willson (A0.927168). The piece is at least a grade 3 due to competing time signatures, contrapuntal melodies, and persistent upper register work across several sections.Written during my time in the Army, this march emerged as a sort of musical joke. The melody and rhythm parts alternate between 6/8 and 2/4 (or 2 over 3) time throughout the piece with the quarter and dotted-quarter keeping the same beat. It incorporates nearly every march convention that my friend and I could think of from the low brass taking over the strain and piccolo obbligato to the baffling euphonium arpeggios in the final strain along with the equally bafflingly obnoxious trombone countermelody. At the same time, it breaks convention by granting the horn players the melodic line in the trio section instead of giving them the back beats they love so much. One of the stranger jokes whose meaning one might miss is the mix up of beats at the key change which was done deliberately to put the generals and first sergeants out of step. It also contains a symphony's worth of stingers at the end (because 19-year-old me was hilarious ... apparently).

Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1226101 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Ken Litton. Historic,Patriotic,Standards,Traditional. Score and Parts. 28 pages. Artist of Note, Inc. #822125. Published by Artist of Note, Inc. (A0.1226101). TAPS  A Remembrance   Bb Solo Trumpet, Narrator, Piano/Organ/Orchestra, optional SATB Choir  > 2:00TAPS - A Remembrance is ideal for the kinds of brief but important Memorial Day and/or Independence Day observances so often called for in our time. The poignant narration recalls the story of United States Army Sergeant Keith Clark playing the bugle call know today as Taps for the interment of President John F. Kennedy (November of 1963). As author William Manchester later wrote, “The 6th note of the 24 he played seemed like “a catch in your voice or a swiftly stifled sob” that the whole world heard, and that remains part of our national heritage. The background arrangement (optionally with chorus) heightens the emotion of the story until both give way to a regulation trumpet solo version that includes the grace note error and fades at the end. The orchestration is done in a 4 Part + format that lends itself to optional performance by any section of the orchestra (originally for brass alone). The choral octavo carries the complete narration (also see below) with accompaniment (playable by/adaptable to organ) and the solo trumpet part (all that’s really needed to perform the piece) along with permission to reproduce the octavo for optional choir/ensemble.The choral writing involves divisi only at two easily sung cadence points. And, it can be performed by just the brass and the narrator. For those who may not know the story:CBS News video of A Bugle Call Remembered Gathering 11/16/2013  [01:15]  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3u2qKWQ8io----NARRATOR:  Since the mid 1800s the bugle call known today as Taps has heralded rest for the weary, as well as comfort and encouragement in times of deep personal and collective grief.** music beginsAt about 3:00 p.m. on November 24th 1963, as the nation mourned the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, United States Army Sergeant Keith Clark raised his bugle at Arlington National Cemetery [† with thoughts of I Corinthians 15:51 in mind, “The trumpet shall sound”].Clearly broadcast throughout the country and around the world, the 6th note of the 24 he played seemed like “a catch in your voice or a swiftly stifled sob” as author William Manchester put it. But, as another observer** noted: “Like the crack in the Liberty Bell, it remains part of our national heritage.”(Taps solo Trumpet with intentional error at m.14 continues)________†   Optional text** Ed Hunter for www.TapsForever.com.

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1463552 By Various. By W.C. Handy. Arranged by Will Corbin. Blues,Jazz,March. 22 pages. Will Corbin #1042277. Published by Will Corbin (A0.1463552). W.C. Handy's St. Louis Blues is an American classic. Jerry Gray, as a GI sergeant-musician during World War II, arranged it in march style for his boss, Glenn Miller, then a major and director of the Army Air Forces Orchestra. This is an adaptation of Gray's fabulous arrangement, taken down a step to put it in a friendlier key. It's arranged for two trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba. And it swings. If you want alternative instrumentation, please contact me at wilcor@aol.com.

Acoustic Guitar,Instrumental Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1152788 Composed by Traditional/Anonymous. Arranged by Socrates Arvanitakis. Classical,Early Music,Folk,Traditional. Individual part. 44 pages. Socrates Arvanitakis #753026. Published by Socrates Arvanitakis (A0.1152788). This is the ninth volume of an extensive collection of folk songs arranged for the classical guitar mostly in two-part counterpoint. The arrangements are of moderate difficulty and the aims of this publication are to familiarise, entertain and educate guitarists (and other musicians) with a melodic repertoire of lasting aesthetic value, under the light of contrapuntal treatment. The thirty five volumes of this collection can certainly be printed on paper if so desired and there are a few pages in each volume, either blank or with photographs of various musicians, which can be inserted at will in any place for the correct ordering of left and right hand pages so that page turns can be avoided. The principle of avoiding page turns has been maintained in all volumes, but this edition is also designed with mobile electronic devices in mind such as tablets etc, using the environment and facilities of a score reading application, towards a paperless world, at least in music. Therefore the size of the staves is bigger than usual for ease of reading on a small screen but not big enough to exceed the limit of a two-page view. Active internal links for navigating from thematic indexes to particular songs and back to indexes have been added, and also external internet links to sites that give further information for the 945 songs of this first collection for classical guitar.Volume 9 (Songs 217-243)Crystal Spring (The)Cuckoo (the)Cumha MhicCupid’s GardenCutting Down the PinesDabbling in the DewDance to your DaddyDarby KellyDashing Away With the Smoothing IronDashing White Sergeant (the) continue hereDavy LowstonDean CadalanDeath and the LadyDeath of Admiral Benbow (the)Death of Queen Jane (the)Derby Ram (the)DerwentwaterDerwentwater’s FarewellDeserter (the) version ADeserter (the) version BDevil and the Farmer’s Wife (the)Dewy Dells of Yarrow (the)DiademDialogue between Jacob and Esau (A)Dicky of Tauton DeneDidn’t My Lord Deliver DanielDigger’s Song (the).
