David McKeown #6235779. Published by David McKeown (A0.590782). ×ַהֲבָה, (Ahava, Hebrew for Love), is a beautiful original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Soprano Saxophone and one Clarinet, and is one of series of pieces celebrating Love in different languages around the world. This duet is inspired by the slow formal dances used in traditional Jewish weddings in Israel and elsewhere. Klezmer music originated in Eastern Europe but has since spread around the world, its bitter sweet melodies and instruments imitating the human voice perfectly reflecting the complex emotion of love. If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. The melody is always expressive and following the articulation in the score will help convey the style. ×ַהֲבָה has a performance time of around three and a half minutes. Score and parts. 6 pages. David McKeown #6017063. Published by David McKeown (A0.588579). 7.40pm is a traditional Russian Jewish tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for one Clarinet and one Tenor Saxophone. It isn’t completely clear where the title 7.40pm comes from. One interpretation is that 7.40pm was the time the Odessa tram conductors finished work and danced to this tune. But there are versions titled 7.40am which may refer to the time of Jewish early morning prayers. Whatever the origin, there are several Russian recordings of 7.40pm that predate the 1917 revolution.7.40pm is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. After a slow and expressively beginning, the melody switches to dance tempo.  7.40pm is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of a little over three minutes, this version of 7.40pm is perfect for recital and concert performances, both formal and informal. Piano,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.587648 Composed by Henry Purcell. Arranged by David McKeown. Baroque,Concert,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. Score and part. 7 pages. David McKeown #4728531. Published by David McKeown (A0.587648). The Trumpet Tune and Air was in fact written for organ, with the melody played on the trumpet stop.  Written around 1700, for many years this piece was attributed to Henry Purcell. But more recently many have questioned whether the composer was in fact Jeremiah Clarke, organist at St Paul’s Cathedral. What is known is that the piece was written for a semi-opera called The Island Princess, and that both men contributed music to the production. In recent years this piece has become a popular wedding favourite. This full version is arranged as a solo for Tenor Saxophone and Piano and the performance time is around two and a half minutes. Of course, performers, especially at weddings, may wish to abridge and shorten the arrangement. This is easily done as the different sections are self-contained and the repeat may be ignored. The short sample here and the full length version on the youtube link are from the Clarinet version of this arrangement.Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. There are of course separate piano and instrumental parts included in downloaded the file.Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with strict time, full tone and dynamic contrast.
