Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #119469. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.532885). This work was inspired by the poem of the same name by Keats. It was written originally for saxophone and organ by its comissioner the saxophonist Paul Wehage and Françoise Lvéchin-Gangloff, the organist at the Church of Sain Roch in Paris where the work was premièred on February 12, 2012 It also exists in a version for saxophone and piano and for saxophone and string orchestra (with harp). The orchestral version was recorded on Thérèse Brenet's CD Le Livre de L'Harmonie du Monde on JTB-Prod (http://www.jtbprod.com/llhm.htm ) The work is not a literal illustration of the poem, but an evocation of emotional states between a Romantic literary work and the music which the writing inspired more than a century and a half later, seen through a Modern musical aesthetic. Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533505 Composed by Ali Ben Sou Alle. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 21 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3001087. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533505). The concert waltz Adieu begins with an introduction in the style of a Bel Canto aria. The Valse which follows is divided into several sections of contrasting styles and tonalites. The coda brings the piece to a calm and quiet close which is broken by a final fortissimo outburst. One of the most enigmatic figures in the history of the Saxophone, Ali Ben Sou Alle (Charles-Valentin Soualle) was born in 1820 in Arras, France. After receiving his first prize in Clarinet at the Paris Conservatory in 1844. he served as the director of music of The French Marine Band in Senegal, and then was named first clarinet solo at the Opéra-Comique in Paris. However, after the Revolution of 1848, Soualle was forced to flee France to England where he settled in London, playing in the Orchestra of the Queen's Theatre. His songs and piano pieces were published in London. While in London, Soualle met another exiled French musician, Louis Antoine Jullien, who conducted a light music series in London. Jullien encouraged Soualle to take up the saxophone, and after modifying the instrument by adding a single octave mechanism (the modern system used today) and keys for the lower register, Soualle became known as a virtuoso and began touring performing solo recitals (or mono-concerts, as they were called at the time) calling his modified saxophone the «turcophone ». He performed in all the European capitals and then traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Manilla, Java, through China and then to India where he finally settled in Mysore, becoming the director of the Royal Music for the Maharadjah. It was during this period that heconverted to Islam and changed his nmae to Ali ben Sou Alle (or Ali, son of Soualle). He subsequently travaled to Ile Maurice, to French Polynesia, the Cap of Natal and the Cap of Good Hope. All of these voyages were subjects of musical works which Soualle entitled Souvenirs de... and may perhaps have been part of a collection known as The Royal Album which was presented to the Prince of Wales after a royal concert. Soualle returned to Mysore in 1858 and was almost killed in the Indian Revolution. Around 1860, Soualle returned to France for health reasons and began publishing his own music. On March 27 1865, he performed a command performance for the Emperor Napoleon III at the Tuileries Palace in the presence of the entire Imperial Family. After 1865, nothing more is known about him.

Instrumental Duet Alto Saxophone,Clarinet,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.588524 Composed by David McKeown. Concert,Latin,Standards,World. Score and parts. 8 pages. David McKeown #5743951. Published by David McKeown (A0.588524). Merengue de Merlín is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Clarinet and one Alto Saxophone. This duet is based on the traditional Latin style of Merengue that emerged in the Dominican Republic during the Nineteenth Century. Merengue Tipico bands maintain the traditional instrumentation of the double-headed tambora drum, güira, accordion and vocal, while urban bands in the North American diaspora often add saxophone, bass and other percussion. The Merengue dance became hugely popular in the 1950s and new forms continue to draw audiences around the world. If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. The steady quintilla tambora rhythm is present throughout, and following the precise articulation in the score will help convey the style. The main challenge is the fast tempo and melodies should be clearly articulated. Merengue de Merlín has a performance time of around two and a half minutes at full tempo. You can listen to a full performance the Alto Saxophone version of this duet by following the YouTube link above. There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203

Piano,Soprano Saxophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.754889 Composed by Sy Brandon. Contemporary. Score and part. 37 pages. Sy Brandon #3130197. Published by Sy Brandon (A0.754889). High Desert Apparitions is inspired by the beautiful and mystical lands and traditions of the Native American people of Northern Arizona. It consists of three movements. Shape Shifters (Skinwalkers or yee naaldlooshii) are evil creatures that appear as humans or as animals. This movement has the piano representing the human form and the saxophone representing coyotes, owls, foxes, and crows in that order. The human shape musically appears at the beginning and in between the animals. Multiphonics are used for some of the animal sounds. Mirages is at a soft dynamic throughout with a lot of sustained sounds. The saxophone sustained sounds begin and end without vibrato with slight vibrato or timbre trills used in the middle of the sustained sound. The intent is to musically represent a vision of water that appears to be evaporating. All mirages are fleeting and the rapid passages in both the saxophone and piano musically represent impermanence. Ancient Spirits is in two sections. The slower opening is atmospheric, evoking images of Native American flutes calling to the ancient spirits. The second section is chant-like and is influenced by recordings of Navajo Yeibichai songs. A Yeibichai is a supernatural represented by a masked dancer in an initiation or curative ceremony. The piano chords are dissonant and steady imitating the sound of drums. While the music is repetitive, there are subtle changes to the melodic material as well as the accompanying chords.

Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.755072 Composed by Sy Brandon. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and part. 50 pages. Sy Brandon #3366105. Published by Sy Brandon (A0.755072). Concertino was composed during 2009 at the request of Dr. Andy Wen and premiered by him at the Region 4 NASA Conference in April 2011. This piano reduction of the band parts was completed in 2011. The work is in three movements. The first movement is in an abbreviated sonata form in a spirited Vivace tempo. The first theme group consists more of motives rather than an actual theme and is characterized by interplay between the soloist and the band. The second theme group has a lyrical saxophone line over a staccato bass line. The development begins quietly with the treatment of a syncopated idea from the second theme using a trio of solo saxophone, timpani and euphonium. After further development, a variant of the first theme group returns. The recapitulation consists only of first theme group ideas before ending with a brief coda. The second and third movements are performed with out pause between them. While the first movement was created during 2009, the second and third movements are a reworking of an earlier work by the composer for alto saxophone and piano soloists with orchestra. A rubato Lento theme containing many triplets that is accompanied by lush harmony begins the second movement. It is followed by a more scale-wise melody that is treated contrapuntally. Both these ideas develop during the movement leading to a strong climax before returning to a quiet conclusion. The third movement is an Allegro, once again with a rhythmic opening idea that changes meter often, and a more lyrical second idea with scale-wise passages as counterpoint. The development of these ideas leads to a cadenza for the solo saxophonist, followed by a coda that brings the composition to a rousing conclusion.
