This is an early intermediate solo piano arrangement of The Christmas Shoes, written by Eddie Carswell and Leonard Ahlstrom, made famous by the 2000 release by Billy Goodwin and his band NewSong, and released in 2001 by the group 3 of Hearts.This arrangement is for solo piano with the right hand playing the melody.  It also contains the lyrics for the entire song.As a professional pianist and piano instructor, I have found that many arrangements of this song are either too difficult for my students with difficult key signatures, left hand stretches and sixteenth notes, or they are too simple and do not include the left hand chord structure at all. Often they also do not include the lyrics. I've created this arrangement to bridge the gap between sounding like the original and being accessible for beginning to intermediate piano players. Most decisions are based on their current skills and abilities, or where I would like for them to be when they complete the piece.This arrangement was made for a late beginner student currently working on Federation class Elementary 2. Some very tricky fingering in the right hand, but worth the trouble. I chose not to transpose to another key with less sharps because its actually easier with the black keys, in my opinion. Sometimes it's good to throw them a good challenge, and it paid off for me. This was actually a more successful performance than his Federation piece at our recital!

Planetarium is a progressive piece of concert band literature utilizing frequent meter change and the use of piano and electric bass throughout (slap technique required). Thick harmonies and creative chord progressions make this an exciting piece to play and teach. Electronic drum machines were the inspiration of most of the percussion parts. My goal was to get the feel of a drum pad using everyday percussion instruments. There is also a funk groove created by the use of 3 different sized muted triangles. The piece can be played with 10 percussionists (plus piano and electric bass). The winds and brass are also involved as they get to clap, stomp they’re feet, and tap pencils as part of the various grooves. There are suspended chords through creating a feeling of uncertainty. I have also included an optional space for improvisation to one of the groove sections. You band will enjoy every part of this progressive, hip, funky, original composition.
