Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet,E-Flat Clarinet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1403106 Composed by Trad & Alan Edgar. Arranged by Alan Edgar. Multicultural,Traditional,World. 24 pages. Alan Edgar Ted Moon #986307. Published by Alan Edgar Ted Moon (A0.1403106). TARANTELLA for Eb, four Bb and one Bass Clarinets.  The stories about tarantellas are many and varied. They are southern Italian folk dances. For this piece, I assume we have a woman happily singing the folk song Santa Lucia, lauding the attractions of Naples, when she is bitten by a tarantula wolf spider. She screams, suffering hysteria and pain, and must now frantically dance, perhaps all night, because this is the only way to recover. Finally she can return to the calm singing.DURATION: 3 minutes or so, depending on how fast the performers can play and how many repeats they have to make.

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Digital Download SKU: A0.1468129 Composed by F. Leslie Smith. Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. 19th Century,Chamber,Folk,Historic,Traditional. 49 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #1046440. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.1468129). In 1856 Joseph P. Webster, a Wisconsin songwriter, met Henry D.L. Webster (no relation), formerly the minister of Zanesville, Ohio’s Universalist Church.  Joseph was in the process of writing a song but needed lyrics to go with his melody.  Henry obliged by writing a longish poem about the love of his life, Ella Blocksom.  She had been his fiancée, but the engagement had been broken and, apparently, so had Henry’s heart.  Joseph’s melody needed a name that would fit into a three-note phrase, so “Ella” was changed to “Lorena.”  Chicago’s Higgins Brothers published the song in 1857, and it became widely popular.  When the American Civil war broke out, “Lorena” was beloved by both Union and Confederate soldiers as they thought of the wives and girlfriends they had left behind.       J.P. Webster’s “Lorena” is beautiful and plaintive. It is no wonder that this song has remained a sentimental favorite over the years and is still performed and recorded.  In this composition, “Lorena: A Brass Quintet Setting,” the “Lorena” tune has been expanded and transformed to create additional melodies that enhance and complement the original.  You’ll find it a pleasure to play and a real crowd pleaser for audiences.     This composition is 201 measures in length.  It begins in the key of E-flat, transitions to B-flat at section C (measure 51) and goes to F at section G (measure 141).  Initial tempo marking is Adagio, increasing to Moderato at section C.  There are a number of temporary tempo variations and fermata marks, and the last 9 measures are characterized by a gradual slowing.     The introduction is 21 measures in length.  It leads to the second section, which consists of a plain, simple and straightforward statement of J.P. Webster’s “Lorena” theme, complete with grace notes and gruppetto.  In this section, Horn and Trumpet 1 do the honors, eventually joined by Tuba, and it should be played with great expression.       At section C, tempo then picks up, and the arrangement presents a series of explications of the theme in various styles.       The final section, I (measure 179), reprises most of the variations and ends with a partial reiteration of the “Lorena” theme.     Performance time is about eight minutes, forty seconds.  Tuba plays several notes near the top of its scale; otherwise, all notes are within the normal playing range of each instrument.     The composer, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge.  He would like to receive your suggestions, comments, corrections and criticisms.  Contact him at lessmith61@bellsouth.net.  For more arrangements by Les, enter Sweetwater Brass Press (without the quotation marks) in the Sheet Music Plus or Sheet Music Direct search box.

Published by Sonata Grendel Publishing (A0.837512). A Tonal Lexicon for Flute is a complete method for scale and arpeggio training on flute. It contains the basic vocabulary of tonal music and includes: ·      Chromatic Scales·      Diminished Scale·      Dominant Seventh Chords·      Dorian Scales·      Full-Range Major Scales·      Full-Range Melodic Minor Scales·      Fully-Diminished Seventh Chords·      Half-Diminished Seventh Chords·      Harmonic Minor Scales·      Major Scales·      Major Seventh Chords·      Major Triads·      Melodic Minor Scale in Thirds·      Melodic Minor Scales·      Minor Seventh Chords·      Minor Triads·      Mixolydian Scales·      Natural Minor Scales·      Scales in Thirds·      Scales in Trills·      Whole Tone Scales Scales and arpeggios are ordered so that they progress logically, one to the other. This order contextualizes the melodic and harmonic structures so that the performer begins to develop a natural sense of how the scales and arpeggios function within a tonal framework. The scales and arpeggios are divided into three large units that include both major and minor keys, easy and difficult keys. The close relationship of each key is emphasized to build automaticity in fingering patterns. Enharmonic keys are represented in both spellings and non-diatonic scales such as whole tone and chromatic scales are spelled as they would be found in each of the fifteen key signatures. The use of octave designation symbols is avoided so that the player is able to acclimate themselves to the many ledger lines sometimes found in flute music. This is an essential book for any serious flute player who wishes to build reading acuity and fluency in any tonal setting.

Published by Paul Kajzar, Gyllcott Music (A0.1346338). Solo saxophone arrangements based on two of the keyboard two-part inventions by J. S. Bach. They invite rhythmic freedom and, although there are suggestions for tempo, phrasing and articulation, the player may wish to devise their own. Nominally arranged for either soprano or alto saxophone they would work well on tenor. Difficulty level : Intermediate/Advanced.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1144592 By Peyton Williams-Morrison. By Peyton Williams-Morrison. Arranged by Peyton Williams-Morrison. Classical,Contemporary. Score. 7 pages. Peyton Williams-Morrison #744931. Published by Peyton Williams-Morrison (A0.1144592). The idea for the beginning motif came when I was simply at a piano and began playing around with chords based on quintal harmonies, chords built off of perfect fifths instead of the usual major or minor third. When I wrote this piece, I thought of a scene in which a pair of beings, one with a masculine energy and the other feminine, were dancing quite literally in the clouds. In the B section, the pair holds one another tightly as they share memories of one another, some fond and some bittersweet, before returning to their waltz. In the D section, the feminine being goes her own way and dances solo with a sense of vigor and raw passion. She goes a little too hard and trips, falling on the ground. The masculine being comes to her aid and gets her back on her feet, returning to their waltz once more. By the end, the sun sets and they part ways, sharing a tender embrace and a kiss goodbye.
